Mego of the Day: O Mighty Isis

Filmation's TV Superheroine is in the spotlight today, collectors sometimes debate as to whether or not Isis belongs in the WGSH. I frimly believe she does but what's your take?

Never saw the show as a kid. Only the comic and I have no memory of the figure except in Heroes World comics/catalogues.

I got one in a box of toys if memory serves. No sandals of course. She's wearing Uhura boots now like a lot of other folks did. I tried making my own sandals but didn't like the way they turned out. Maybe I'll try again soon.

It's a great figure. Doesn't look like the lady who played her. Has that same Dinah/Supergirl/WW head Mego seemed to use too much. Would have been cool if the headband were separate. Still a very Mego-y Mego.

I agree with Raydeen that this is a great figure and that the only detraction is that typical head sculpt and the painted on headbead, but then again, if Mego had made a separate crown, we'd all be on the marketplace with "W: Isis headband."

As for inclusion into WGSH, if Tarzan was in that category, then Isis should definitely be there.
        It's all good!

Hey if Ben's book says it's a WGSH...well, you know...

Nicely made, little interest, although the show was pretty popular.

Love the show (watched it as a kid, and have tapes today), and I even used to have a coloring book (sorry Brian, I don't have it anymore), but I never had this figure. As I've said in another post, I'm not a big fan of the Supergal dolls, b/c they all look alike, and have really BIG heads. And yes, if I did want this, I'd want a headband, not a painted head, so I could turn her back into Andrea Thomas.

To me she belongs in the WGSH. I didn't have her as a kid but remember she was one of the first ones I acquired as an adult. I don't remember seeing her in the stores at all. One of my favorite figures. Mego did a nice job on her.

I know technically she doesn't have "WGSH" plastered on her card (and neither do the Titans) but she certainly deserves to be included in the line. Her pairing with fellow Mego Shazam! (Captain Marvel) and her concurrent DC comic add to that claim.

I got my Isis about 10 years ago while attending a Barbie show with my wife. Got her for $8, pretty minty, with her famous panties, but minus her infamous sandals. As I posted recently, the sandals are completely inaccurate to the show and comics, and Uhura's boots actually make good comic substitutes. Why frugal Mego made custom sandals is unknown.

I watched the show all the time as a kid, along with Shazam. I never had the figure though. I finally bought a really nice carded one about 15 years ago. I sold her on ebay about 4 or 5 years ago when I got out of carded figures. I regret selling her though, it didn't go for as much as I hoped, and it was a really nice card. Oh well, who hasn't regretted selling something once in a while. Count me in as some who thinks she belongs with the WGSH. Mego even grouped her in with the others in their catalogues.

Yeah, her attachment to Captain Marvel qualifies her for the WGSH line, IMHO. I had her as a kid and I have her now, loose with a brokem arm, loose with an opened card and carded.

In my May, 7, 1977 TV Guide that I keep handily in my office, Batman ran at 10:30 right before the Shazam/Isis Hour at 11.
