Mego of the Day: Dale Arden

Mego of the Day is Dale Arden, part of the wonderful Mego Flash Gordon line of figures.

Is Flash Gordon part of your collection? Is it something you want to pursue? Does the scale put you off, let us know at the Mego Forum.

It was a really beautiful line ~ Both in product execution, genre style of outfits and box art. If I had the $$ and desire, they'd all be MIB on my shelf.
    Peace.. Through Superior Firepower.

The Flash line is one i will probably get into one day, eventually. Definitely a premium line, with lots of effort on Mego's part to make it stand out above the rest.

What or who was Dale's sculpt based on ?
It seems too unique and nice to be a "generic girl doll" sculpt.
But, it also doesn't resemble the actress who played Dale in the serials.

One of Megos best figures and lines. Although they cheated her on the boots...

Dale was sculpted by Ken Sheller, while the others in the series weren't. I don't know why this is but Sheller sculpted her as Dale Arden according to my notes.

This is a great, underappreciated line, it's very well executed, colourful and bristling with detail. It would probably be much more popular with collectors if these were 8", but I think the larger scale suits the line. I still need to get a Ming and Dale to complete the set for my collection. These aren't easy to find loose and complete (although I managed to do so for Flash and Zarkov) so I might have to get them on damaged cards and open them up.

Awesome line, awesome figure. So many little doodads and gadgetry. The artwork on the cards is fantastic and the playset is quite out of this world.

kudos to mego. Too bad the Flash movie was a year or two later.

One of the coolest Mego lines, IMO. Tons of accessories, great colors, awesome detail.

The scale does turn me off a bit. I really collect 8" stuff, but for a while I was buying other Mego lines and picked these up. I worked hard finding all the accessories. Not too long after I completed them, I needed space and some cash so I purged everything not 8" from my collection. Always regretted getting rid of them so re-bought them. What sucks is now I'm going through that struggle of finding all those parts again. Only two more to go!

The Flash line is really well done. This is the one line that I'd like to see EMCE make in 8" scale.
                        Looking for:

I had no idea they existed until about 15 years or so ago. Don't have any real desire to get them. An 8" line from say EMCE would be cool though and I be get those. They are very well done for sure. Some of Mego's best execution.

Ever since I saw the Flash Gordon show on Sci Fi I've gotten more respect for Falsh, even tho that show has almost nothing to do with the original.
So more respect: yes, but I'm still not going to collect them, even tho Mego did a fantastic job on the costumes and accessories
