I missed out on buying the Torch and Thing on the amily March break shopping trip to the Scarborough Town Center (which as an adult I discovered was like, 20 minutes from my house, why did we only go once a year?) I saw them as we were leaving the Dominion Play World and I wished I had seen them as I was entering because I would have gone home with them!
The next time we went, that's all I talkedabout, Human Torch this, human torch that. When we finally got to the Dominion Playworld, I couldn't fun the mego section so I asked the clerk
Me "Do you have the Torch"
Him" You mean the Human Torch from the Fantastic Four?"
Me "YES!"
Him "No"
Stupid teenager. Anyway, I found a disapointing selection of Hulk and Spider-Man (all on those Parkdale Novelty cards) and I left empty handed. Until th early eighties when my friend brought back hundreds from a toy run in New York state that is...Places to find PlaidStallions online: https://linktr.ee/Plaidstallions

I never even saw the FF as a kid. When I was somewhere around 25, I sent out some mail to people advertising in Collectible Toys & Values and hooked up with a guy who had a bunch of loose Megos. I bought Thing from him in nice shape, I think Mxy and a nakey Torch with a bolt in his leg. I made a red jumpsuit for him and painted the flames on it very true to the pictures I had of the Mego Torch. A short time after that, Charlee Flatt sent me an envelope with some goodies in it, among which was a Torch outfit. I think he's an underated figure. As a kid, all my guys had to have removable boots and gloves (if they wore gloves) and it was a big reason I never got Spidey. The sculpt on Torch is great. The outfit screams Mego. I like him but Mr.Fantastic is possibly the best executed Mego of all the WGSH.Last edited by Raydeen1; Aug 29, '08, 10:38 PM.Comment

I believe the HUMAN TORCH was the last MEGO i got as a kid, As he was in the series that was released when toys were losing their appeal to me, As an adult collecter i like the torch i just wish he was easier to find without the dread zombie deaseComment

Never had him. I think I probably wanted him as FF was one of my favorite comics as a kid but the only Marvel one I had was (and still have him) Spiderman (Type 1).

I always liked him ...i went christmas shopping with my mom she no longer hid the presents it was useless with my sister and I. We were too good at finding everything. So i went with my Mom and she told me go and pick out what you want. I ended up getting him and the Invisible girl to finish off the FF. As soon as we got home I pulled him out to play. My mom was like "aren't you going to wait for christmas day"......lol! errrr um Darn! i answered.she forced me to put him in the box and she wrapped him for picture taking for her. The pictures sadly disappeared but the memories are there...Comment

Torch was one of the Megos I coveted the most as a kid. Never saw one on the shelves (nor any of the other FF figures for that matter), but the kid who lived across the alley from me had one. I remember being around six years old when he showed it to me the first time, I was in awe as Torch was one of my favorite comic characters. I never got him as a kid, I was probably about 19 when I finally got one on a PinPin card. He succumbed to the dreaded grey-head disease, and I wound up trading him off for a nice boxed one. As an adult I can see his design flaws but as a kid I always thought he was excellent!Comment
