    Why can't I find a killer game?

I remember how in awe I was of the first Tomb Raider and the first Resident Evil... haven't found that same thrill since.

Dead Space was pretty cool but nowhere near as immersive an experience.

Anybody remember 'Nightmare Creatures' or 'Parasite Eve'?

Hoping somebody out there has discovered a gem.

Have you tried any of the other Resident Evil games? If not you should at least try RE2 and RE4. Silent Hill was another good one. I remember Nightmare Creatures and Parasite Eve, fun stuff.

Well there's Condemed (1 and 2). I wasn't crazy about the controls in the first one, but number two was pretty cool.
Lots of spooky atmasphere, including music.
The lighting effects from dangling lightbulbs are superb, and every once in a while you'll kick a can or bottle on the ground and it scares the **** outta you.
probably one of the most legit creepy games I've played.
And RE5 should be out now, or really soon.

        I remember Nightmare Creatures

There's a bunch of fun games out there, there's just a few that are classics and nothing will ever compare to those, like for me

        007 Golden Eye for N64
        Mario Kart for N64
        Crusin' the world N64

        Twisted Metal 2 for PS1
        Silent Hill 1 PS1

Black Hawk Down for the PC
        Land of the Dead PC

        Street Fighter 2 arcade
        MK 1 arcade

those to me are the most fun and best games ever

I forgot about Silent Hill... that was a good game.

Yes... I've played all the other Resident Evils and all the Tomb Raiders.

          Can't wait for the new R.E. 5

I thought R. E. 4 was one of the best.

I thought condemned bloodshot was the best horror game I ever played. They did a fantastic job with that one.

I just finished FEAR 2 which was good.

I want to try the new Res. Ev. how is it?

              Hmmmm....

I bet part of your problem is the same one I have: a lot of the new games are really similar in play, theme and look to old games. So.... "Resident Evil 5" might be a good game, but it doesn't differ all that much from 4, or 3, or 2, or any of the other survival horror games. THey might be really good, but there's no sense of surprise or discovery from them.

World of Warcraft is a great game, if you're not into Fantasy...No worries, it's not a real Fantasy game. If you wanna run around killing real people, WoW is the best game for you.

I thought Dead Space was rather good. Have you tried Bioshock?
You are a bold and courageous person, afraid of nothing. High on a hill top near your home, there stands a dilapidated old mansion. Some say the place is haunted, but you don't believe in such myths. One dark and stormy night, a light appears in the topmost window in the tower of the old house. You decide to investigate... and you never return...

I really did like Dead Space... I was just pining for the days when a game blew me away.

I have heard that Bio Shock is good, though I'm not crazy about first person shooters... isn't that what it is?

Although Dead Space is probably classified a first person shooter too... but it didn't feel quite like it.

It's more like Dead Space (but better) than a standard FPS, like Call of Duty.

I may have to give it a try.

I guess I'm in the minority, but I liked the games like the original Tomb Raider and Resident Evil where you run here and find a key... run back there and use the key...figure out little puzzles and shoot something along the way.

The sense of atmosphere was incredible on those games.

I enjoyed a game called Stolen. It has little puzzles and you get to hit security guards. I also liked looking at Anya, the main character. ... must finish that custom of her...

I'm usually not much for first person games, but BioShock is really cool. It's very atmospheric and has a great art deco design. There are puzzles and things you have to figure out, it's not just shooting, you might want to give it a try.
