I've been Star Wars free for over a decade but my son may dig it.

I've been reading some fan reviews at the STAR WARS fan site, theforce.net:

Jedi Council Forums - The Clone Wars Theatrical Movie: REACTIONS Thread (Spoilers Allowed)

There are extreme views -- some love it, some hate it -- but the general consensus seems to be it's a pretty good kid's movie and a good pilot episode for the series to follow. Make of that what you will.

I cannot say what i think about it as i have not seen it yet but i do find it strange that some people say they will not bother going because someone else says it is not very good.

Go see it for yourself and then come back and tell us what you thought.

^ ^ ^ I second that. Who cares what Harry Knowles thinks? To the people who've said they wouldn't see the film based on this one bad review, I'd ask you to consider that there must be movies that Harry likes that you don't, and vise versa. The best fan reviews I've read on-line point out that this movie actually feels more like the Original Trilogy than it does the Prequels. Take it for what it is: An animated STAR WARS TV show that's been theatrically released. With that frame of mind, enjoyment should ensue.

I'll watch it if Lucas releases an official version of the Holiday Special.
            That movie rocked!

I already saw a 6 minute preview at MGM, and that was enough for me. It looks reallllllly bad.

It may be good to see perhaps in terms of break through technology in animation as a great kiddie film. However, This is one I will more than likely wait on for DVD to view as it does not appeal to me from a classical original Star Wars fan adult level.

Generally speaking the previews are usually the best parts of most of the movies that are released. In other words if that preview you seen was that bad then the movie will more than likely be pretty bad as well.

^^^ And I didn't see anything that looked Breakthru animation technology either. It reminded me of Reboot.

Basically this is a 1hr + TV pilot that they are playing theatrically to launch the new Cartoon Network show.

Saw it today, and maybe it's because I had NO expectations for this, and only went to take my son, but I really enjoyed it. In fact, in story, acting, and just lack of Anakin whining, it superior to the prequels. They don't "cute" it up as much as I thought they would for the kiddies. The humor is more in line with the original trilogy and honestly less sacharine than the Ewoks.

I think Knowles has an axe to grind with Lucas. If you remember right he was raking the new Indy movie over the coals shortly before it's debut as well. I think sometimes he gets off on turning the fan community on and off to projects at his whim. Just my theory though.

If you like Star Wars, and more importantly, have kids who like Star Wars, go see it. It's fun, the animation is well done, and the pacing is especially exciting. You won't be moaning and groaning at lame Anakin/Padme dialog or shifting restlessly in your seat during boring political "intrigue". It does feel more like the old movies.

Just wasted $6.50 on the movie. Animation was a bit stiff, I expected more. Theater system did not have surround or the movie doesn't. Like watching a big screen through old TV speakers.

Little kids in the audience seemed to like it.

Kinda slow moving and almost fell asleep toward the end. Overal a C- film in my book. Should have been what it was originally intended to be. A TV movie setting up the series.

I agree with Chris. I took my 4 year old for his first Star Wars experience and he loved it. I was expecting something along the lines of the Ewok cartoon and I frankly was surprisingly entertained. I put it on par and maybe a little better than the droids cartoon. You'll have fun, but it's definely aimed at kids.

Truman Capote the Hutt was a little much for my tastes though.

Yeah just took the younger kids. Everyone had a good time. Story was ok , battle scenes were really good.
