Directed by Danny Boyle (Trainspotting, 28 Days later). It stars Cillian Murphy (Scarecrow in Batman Begins & Dark Knight), Chris Evans (Johnny Storm/Human Torch in both Fantastic Four movies), Michelle Yeoh (Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon), Cliff Curtis (Once Were Warriors, Whale Rider), and a bunch of other solid actors.

Set 50 years into the future...it's humanity's second attempt (Icarus I failed) to send a spaceship (Icarus II) to the sun to drop a huge bomb in order to re-energize the dying star.
I loved this film, I was pleasantly surprised. Think of it as a mixture of Event Horizon, 2001: A Space Odyssey, Silent Running, and even a little bit of Alien and the Abyss (the space version of course, lol).
It was not a box office hit, what a shame because this is one wonderful and amazingly underrated film. It has a very interesting in-depth story with awesome visuals, great soundtrack, solid acting, awesome special-effects, a nice mystery added to it, and best of all, a great atmosphere...you can feel how such a dangerous and long journey a trip to the sun would be...the scenes where they are getting closer to the sun are awe-inspiring and scary, great stuff.

IMO, this is sci-fi at its best.
I give this film FIVE out of FIVE stars...it's already one of my all-time favorite sci-fi films...Danny Boyle is a GREAT director.
I'm buying the Blue Ray version tomorrow!
