I would like to see Batman's control issues used as a theme. The Mad Hatter would be a great foil for that subject. Robin Williams would be a great Mad Hatter.Comment

>The Riddler & "Scary" are just 2 words that don't go together.
My favourite quote from Seanbaby.com:
The Riddler is about as tough as someone who scratches their name on a bathroom wall. They're easy to catch, since the entire crime is labelled, but it's not really worth the effort to go get them. There are actual dangerous criminals out there. If someone doesn't want to get attacked by the Riddler, they can put a palm on his forehead and shove. Even if you're an old lady running into him on the street and your only weapon is a purse, that's one more purse than the Riddler has. While you're hitting him in the head, all he can do is make up a nursery rhyme about how he's going to try to find a band-aid later.
>The Mad Hatter would be a great foil for that subject.
Or Croc, or Calendar man, or Catman, or damned near ANYBODY!!!! Batman has been around for almost 70 years! He has LOTS of foes. WHY do I keep seeing the same four or five over and over and over?

Mad Hatter would be cool.
So would Clayface ,. ManBat or Killer Croc. Hell, you could use the plot that the Hatter was controling One of the 3 to do his Bidding...., I just really don't wanna see Catwoman. Just don't.... The Original Knight ..., Often Imitated, However Never Duplicated. The 1st Knight in Customs.

"Memento" and "L.A. Confidential" has shown us that he can act.ScottComment

Because the general non-comic booko reading public is familiar with them. They're safe draws. I was suprised, but happy, to see Ra's Al Ghul in "Batman Begins". I always considered him to be "third movie" material, the new ultimate menace.ScottComment

I remember after 1989's "Batman" everybody was speculating on new villains and characters. The main ones were Kevin Bacon or Michael J. Fox as Robin and Robin Williams as the Riddler. I'm glad that we never got any of them. Chris O'Donnel was a fine Robin. Tommy Lee Jones as Two-Face was great casting but a shame that he had to share the spotlight with Jim Carrey and be in such a horrible film.
I'd like to see Ray Liotta get a crack at being the Riddler. I always wanted him to be the Joker.ScottComment

But we're not talking rocket science here; they're super villians. Most of 'em have a schtick that can be summed up in a line or two so it wouldn't be too hard to EXPLAIN them in a movie. Especially considering they feel the need to show the bad guys' origin in every film already! (AND they tend to change them from the established ones as well....)
So; how would people feel about a NEW bad guy for a Batman film?

Depp would make a great Riddler and they could really make him scary if they wanted like losing the question mark costume and have him murdering people with obscure notes that make no sense at all instead of some kitschy riddle that really isn't too difficult to figure out."The farther we go, the more the ultimate explanation recedes from us, and all we have left is faith."

The Riddler second only to the Joker on a scale of scariness? Hardly! Two-Face out-terrorizes the Riddler at a ratio of about 2 million to 1. The Riddler is scary like a small child who tells you what naughty act he's about to commit... giving you plenty of time to stop him. /shudder/
BTW, Two-Face was virtually unknown by the masses until The Dark Knight. TL Jones' performance in Batman Forever is so utterly forgettable most people don't even remember who he supposedly portrayed or what his name was. Which is a good thing, since that characterization of Two-face was wildly off the mark. I digress.Comment
