I have the dvd box set and i really like it. I agree the episodes do get a bit samey which is probably why it was cancelled but is is better than the 4th and 5th movies.

Did you know there was a bubblegum card set for the series which i also have.

It was not a bad series,Urko and Galen were the stars of the show in my eyes, thats why i used to watch it,Urko used to scare me when i was a kid always shouting, then i found out it was the same guy who plays Sarek in STTOS,he didn't seem so bad after that

Loved the show as a kid...it aired Friday nights in my area. Problem was they only ran a half dozen or so episodes, then yanked it. Later that summer they ran all the episodes daily for a few weeks, then I never saw it again until Space channel ran the "movie" versions when the tim burton piece of crap remake came out.
I picked up the dvd set when it first came out, and I find myself watching it over and over again. Most sets I watch through once..over time...and then they sit on the shelf.

Other than the apes having some "modern technology" in the RETURN series, the animated series is even further away content-wise to the book than the original film was...

There are no such things as "monster creatures" in the book, no Underdwellers, no gibberish speaking humans (in the book they are mute animals), no other astronaut from the past who arriver before the new crew, etc...

When people say how much closer the RETURN series is to Boulle's novel, I have to wonder how many of them actually read "Monkey Planet"...
