Season 2 wasn't much better, there were a few interesting scenes, but none worth sitting thru the entire season to watch. In Season 3 the forsaken were interesting, even though drastically different from their bookselves, and a few interesting moments for some of the main cast, but the rest was pure fan-fiction and overall just another jumbled mess of presentation. 3 seasons in, and the showrunner still had no clue how to end a season on a high note.I saw it was cancelled. I couldn't get over how bad season 1 was, so I never even attempted to watch any other seasons. Sad for fans of the series, but probably a win for the fans of the books, since what I saw only barely qualified as being from the same source material.

really no different than the campy mess they made of the Sword of Truth series years back - Legend of the Seeker. it was such a drastic shift from the books it was amazing it lasted 2 seasons.
good adaptations like LOTR, Harry Potter and Game of Thrones are a rare thingLeave a comment:

The sad thing is that this mismanagement of the property has likely been a death knell for it.
Maybe once the industry figures out that they can't correct sexism with sexism, or eliminate racism with racism, or cancel homophobia with heterophobia, or "reimagine" basic human nature, maybe then, we can have stories projected on the screen that will appeal to most humans.
Imagine a story where men & women from all sorts of backgrounds and races work together to overcome great adversities despite their inherent differences by tapping into their individual gifts and talents and learning from their mistakes. Robert Jordan did just that.
It's too bad for the fans that Rafe Judkins couldn't see beyond his own sexist, racist & heterophobic biases to translate to the screen the story that Jordan had penned.Leave a comment:

yeah, they veered too much from the source and if you had not read the books it was very confusing to follow what was going on. so much potential wastedLeave a comment:

Well, that's all folks!
While there was some course correction in S3 to some of the main characters, and a slight improvement in story presentation, it just wasn't enough to maintain viewship, much less bring wayward viewers back to this series.

i don't have issue with them creating something within universe, but i don't think creating something for young adults is really the way to go. i very much doubt teenagers care much about this series, books or otherwiseLeave a comment:

^Looks like it's supposed to be a prequel of sorts. At the risk of sounding like a curmudgeon, personally, I'm not interested in tuning into yet another fan fiction story "inspired" by Jordan's universe. In my opinion, if you're going to use somebody else's work to profit from, then honor that work and stay as true to it as possible. If you can't honor it, then just move on. And for the love of all that is creative, if you think that you're so much smarter than the creator was, then prove it. Create your own story, in your own universe, with your own characters, take the risk, and let the pieces fall where they may.Last edited by Dark Shadow; Oct 21, '23, 9:39 PM.Leave a comment:

agreed. i didn't say it was easy to enjoy as a fantasy series but i am willing to give it a watch as is in the hopes it gets better.Leave a comment:

Which is what I've been attempting to do, but it's just so illogical and nonsensical, not to mention sloppy, weak and meandering. They should have placed this large & complex property into the hands of experienced creators instead of the amateurs it ended up with. I'm pretty sure I'm done with it, may check in next season, but probably not.season 3 had already started filming before the strike, so it probably won't be that long before it drops. but who knows. as far as the finale, i have resigned myself that to the fact that the show is not really following the books, and am just trying to enjoy it as a big budget fantasy seriesLeave a comment:

S2E8: Train Wreck.
If it's 2-3 years before S3 drops, that may be enough time for me to forget why I am so disappointed with this series overall. I don't think it will be long enough for me to forget how badly both season finales were executed though, and overall how all 6 of the main characters have been stripped of their actual character.
I really want to like this series, but the creative team just won't let me.Leave a comment:

S2E7 - I didn't find much at all to appreciate in this episode. The brief encounter between Lan & Rand was nice, but really should have happened in S2E1, but in much greater depth. There's plenty to criticize in this installment, but I'll just pick a few nits.
The smallest would be the idea that Rand had to embrace the source to actually see the tied-off weave, but Logain could see it without having any access to the source at all? The largest for me (aside from all the wasted time on peripheral characters and the character perversions of the main cast) would be that the creators seem to have no idea what made the relationship between the Sul'dam & Damane truly terrifying.
I used to think that the creators either didn't understand what made the characters and the different cultures in the novels actually work, or they just thought they could improve upon them. It's beginning to look like they simply don't understand human nature.Last edited by Dark Shadow; Oct 15, '23, 5:07 PM.Leave a comment:
