Yeah I just dont think it would translate well. I mean Americans wouldn't relate to curries, Gits, nobs, Smeg heads and alot of the in jokes that made Dwarf funny.
Casting choices....? Well could you imagine A black female Capt Hollister doing the T Rex,vindaloo, chocomint icecream, traumatic tidal wave of diahrrea bit? No
Cat a woman? It changes the whole shows dynamic. Two straight guys... err a guy and a being?, a hologram stuck a million years from nowhere with no female companionship. That plot point set a bit of atmospere and steered a bit of the plot. Make Cat a sexy feline/humanoid. Basically a hot woman with pointy teeth and maybe multiple breast? Hell just forget the rest of the nonliving crew and lock your selves in a cabin somewhere. I'd be happy.
And as said before . Lister needs to be a super slob, Rimmer needs to be more of a goit. Kryton starting as a member of the crew? NO the episode of how he was found was priceless.Lo there do I see my Father.
