much as I love Simon Pegg (in a manly I like his work heterosexual kind of way)....I just can not....CAN NOT...see him as Scotty.....feels like the casting means Scotty's gonna be played for laughs....I know he had most of the intentionally funny lines/scenes in the Originals ...but sheeeesh

Yeah, I thought the exact same thing Bat.

I have to admit I feared the worst, but the more news that trickles out, the more it seems they did try to stay true to the original source.....Still early though. Hope they post some pics of the ship, crew, or anything besides a grainy picture of a hallway soon!

I know I'll definately watch and give it a go.

I even got into watching Trek New Voyages. . . and got into enjoying them and the new actors in the roles. A lot of work went into recreating the environs, and some clever story line plots and tie-ins as well.

It all sounds promising. Simon Pegg as Scotty. I wrestled with this nearly as much as Karl Urban as Dr. McCoy, ( I tried to envision a beefy McCoy with long hair throwing spears at Klingons), but maybe it will work. I don't see why it wouldn't. This could be Pegg's 1st serious role. We have to see.

Is Pegg gay? I know he also did a Doctor Who episode in 2005. It seems Russel T. Davies casts many gay British actors in DW.

It does sound interesting. I can't wait to see some stills or a trailer.

I'm the biggest Trek Fan You can imagine...so I'll be one off JJ's toughtest Critic's. I realize the near impossible odd's of pulling this one off....how do You replace Shatner, Nimoy & the rest!??? When Their Characters are so prominent in Our Minds...it's almost inconceivable?

Yet...I applaud JJ Abrams for taking on such a difficult task. And the thing is...I desperately want Him to succeed! Because...I want MORE Kirk & Spock Stories DAMMIT!! No more Next Generation or Enterprise....but the Characters I know and LOVE. And I hope JJ makes Them live again...God speed!!
