4. Spock's eyebrow

6. Kirk-fu

7. Eff you, Prime Directive

8. "The Devil in the Dark"

9. Gorn!

10. Alexander Courage--he beat out Sherry Jackson and her jumpsuit because I don't want to seem a cad.

My ten reasons would be, in no particular order:

1. Script writing, mostly season’s 1-2

2. The different cool alien races.

3. I’m a doctor Jim not a.....

4. He’s dead Jim.

5. Red Shirt security guards killed, then coming back in later episodes.

6. Hot girls in either federation uniform skirts or some odd sexy alien outfit.

7. City on the Edge of Forever.

8. The comical trash talking between Spock and McCoy.

9. Spock hanging upside down from a tree and giggling.

10. Mego Star Trek.

Creative Alien designs. No weird forehead of the week syndrome.
Fantastic special effects for its time.
Beautiful ship designs. Enterprise, Bird of Prey and Klingon D7.

Not sure if this is really true or not... I heard this long before you can internet fact check these things, but I really want this to be true... Apparently, the "hot girls" were largely to distract the NBC censors. The more controversial the content of the episode, the shorter the miniskirts would be.

I always thought it was weird how classic Trek sometimes showed slightly blurry glamor headshots of some of the pretty actresses (usually in their introduction shots)

It's like something straight out of 1940's B&W movies

I don't think other TV shows did that

I could pick and choose and build a list from what everyone here has already said. For me, you all have covered it all pretty well, but I will make one addition....Susan Oliver. I was mesmerized by her as Vina and still think she is one of the most beautiful women to ever be on television.

I want to live in that world ever since I was a kid. Then "Cool alien races" like GORN!!! And Orion females!!!! WOW!!! I just don't like or admire the slave aspect to it.

1. The excitement of exploration. I could take a decent raygun water pistol and a tape recorder as tricorder and go off on my own Treks.

2. The Kirk roll.

3. The Vulcan nerve pinch

4. How Bones becomes more "Southern" as he gets older (both in "The Deadly Years", and in the actual films where he's older!).

5. Scotty drinking the alien under the table in "By Any Other Name".

6. "Mirror, Mirror", the alpha and omega of "evil counterpart" stories

7. The "gunfight" in "Specter of the Gun"

8. The fight music in "Amok Time"

9. Spock's fling with Zarabeth.

10. "Let's get the hell out of here."

I'm gonna add the theme music and title/credits sequences… as a kid those had a disturbing and mysterious impact on me, and I think served as a strong hook into the show for many.
