Anybody a fan of UK's UFO series....??

Everytime I see the banner for this section at the MM, I wonder if anybody is a fan here of that show. Was it good? Is it out on DVD? I am curious to watch it...

I'm a fan, it's stylish series that while may appear dated, was way ahead of it's time.

Most of the criticism is that the characters don't have the depth of the Star Trek cast (something I get a little tired of hearing personally) but the truth is, the cast of UFO have little to be happy about.

      I still haven't seen it yet .....

Actually, I never even knew the show existed until the mid 80's (I don't think it was ever played on TV in the US)

I've seen a few episodes, but I mostly confuse it with Space 1999.

It's out of DVD in the UK anyway...quite cheap as well...£17.99 for Volumes 1-4...hmmm

Only if your DVD can play region 2

Maybe your Computer could...sometimes they can be reset.

Have you tried to see if it's on youtube or alluc.org

It was widely shown in the U.S. during the seventies. It is available on DVD
in the U.S. Two sets of 13 episodes or a mega set of all 26 episodes.

It was produced by Gerry and Sylvia Anderson who also did "Thunderbirds",
"Captain Scarlet" etc. "UFO" was their first live action show. "Space:1999"
developed from a proposal to change the format of "UFO".

I love the show and have been working off and on to make custom Mego figures based on the show.

It was made circa 1970 and set in the 1980s. There was a real effort made to
make it look futuristic. Special effects are excellent, as with most Anderson
efforts. Stories are good and don't always have happy endings or leave the characters none the wiser about the nature of the alien threat.

I reccomend checking out this website UFO Series Home Page - What's New? There's a wealth
of information on the show. More detail than what I can go into here.

"UFO" is definetly worth checking out and is an underrated program.

                        Hmmmm....

You'll probably have to get used to the pacing: it's a lot different from newer shows. It'll feel kinda slow and not in your face at first. But yeah; it's a GREAT show! About halfway through the series you realize there's a WHOLE LOT going on....

... and then it stops. It's not jarring or anything; but there's still a lot of story left when it got cancelled.
