    Dr Who --- ROBOT !!!!

Just watched Doctor Who's "Robot" on official BBC-DVD last night .......

Man, this story has everything going for it .........

Besides being THE FIRST Doctor Who story I ever seen (back in the 70's) ... It's just fantastic..

    Good points about Robot .....

    1. Tom Baker -- nuff said
    2. Sarah Jane Smith --- see #1
    3. UNIT with Stewart and Benton
    4. Bad guy (the Robot) you just wanna love and feel sorry for.
    5. BESSIE !!!!!!!!!!
    6. Harry ... Harry is always good for a laugh (him and Tom play off eachother perfectly)

I could go on for ages .......

If you've never seen Robot, I suggest you make it a point to see it.

IMO, Doctor Who at it's best

Not surprisingly, this was my first intro to Tom Baker. I remember as a kid thinking he was a bit of a goof. I was raised on pertwee and this was my first regeneration story.

Easily in my top ten favourite Baker stories, the Robot himself is great, classic look, great BBC type voice and a nice bit of pathos.

Ark in Space rocked my world when I was 7. Doctor Who used to come on around dusk on TVO, it always made Saturday night creepier. I just got a whole flashback of watching that when it first aired, no wonder I'm a fan now.

Type 1 Kirk, if you thought "Robot" was great wait till you see "The Ark In Space" and "Genesis of the Daleks".

Ark is incredible...Who at it's very best.....Robot certainly stands out as a very very good "new" Doctor story.....The Robot is incredible....saw it at a Who exhibition years ago...I'll scan the pics soon...and it was just as impressive up close....the Action man effect is the only bit that lets it down...other than that a great take on Kong

Did they do something with the Action Man tank on the DVD release ?

When I watched Robot last night, the tank just didn't seem as laughable as when I seen it on TV years ago.

In the commentary for "Ark In Space" Elisabeth Sladen mentions that during
breaks in taping she occupied herself with popping bubble wrap.
