Same here and there's a lot of people who feel the same way.
To be honest I hope Discovery crashes and burns from the start just to spite CBS for not going the classic familiar route (which would have been an easy win)

I won't be watching Star Trek: Discovery...but I will be checking this show out. Totally Galaxy Quest vibe and that's a good thing.

Favreau directed and exec. produced one of the eps. Star Trek alums Brannon Braga, Jonathon Frakes, and Robert Duncan McNeill also directed episodes. Braga has a producer credit for the whole season.

The ad they had tonight says that John Favreau is also involved. Not sure if it's entirely true.Leave a comment:

Looks promising. From my understanding, Seth also worked behind the scenes on the FOX 'Cosmos' revival from a couple of years ago.Leave a comment:

Looks more fun and Trek-y than most the actual Trek stuff these days. Didn't look like a parody so much as a funny space show.
I'm down. I miss Other Space though.Leave a comment:

I think it would have been cool if they went for a more serious look to the bridge set, then just have the comedy set around a regular science fiction background.
Or even allow Seth to use a copy of the Enterprise D Bridge.
A cool starship would have been more fun to watch than a corny one.
Make everything cool, but just have the comedy, and maybe parody a uniform here and there, but don't parody everything.
I have a feeling that I would like this show better if it was a cartoon, some formats seem better. This seems more like Hyperdrive, which was okay, but not something really special that one could think about watching all the time, and be really excited for the next episode each week.
It seems predictable, but it might still be good.Leave a comment:

Yes, McFarlane is a true Trek fan... he even made that show with Patrick Stewart ("Blunt Talk"). I'm curious to see how this one turns out. So much of McFarlane's humor is pop culture based, which would be a mistake with this premise. But then again, he was totally charming in "Sing!" (don't judge).Leave a comment:

Glad to see Professor Stein getting more work. Here's hoping for a Shat or West guest star shot.Leave a comment:

Yeah, he does resemble Captain Marvel, with the $%& eating grin and twinkle in his eye.. now that you mention it.
This looks pretty cool. I asked Sam Jones last weekend if he'd been approached for a Flash Gordon cameo, and he said he hadn't. He generally seemed clueless about the show, so I don't think he was adhering to non-disclosure. But he would be a natural fit for an episode or two.Leave a comment:

This might be fun. I'm more intrigued by this than Star Trek: Discovery.
Anyone else think with the right director and tone, Seth MacFarlane could make a good Captain Marvel?
