    A New Hope revisited

Has anyone seen this amazing New Hope revamp? It is amazing...it's been cleaned up to Phantom menace standards....the Jabba scene has been "fixed" extra laser blasts added, matte lines completely removed, shots such as the wrong arm have been fixed by flipping the scene...amazing..truely amazing...and it's not been done by Lucasfilm...so it's not an official revamp...if you love Star Wars you need to get hold of a copy...they are doing Empire and jedi too.

The worst two scenes in a New Hope that really bothered me and that I hope they fixed are.......

When the Falcon enters the Death star. In the glow of the magnetic sheild surounding the bottom of the landing bay you can see the arm that holds the model. I'll be damned why George never fixed that in the redo.

In the Death star attack one of the X wing pilots flubs his lines and has to look off screen for a prompt. The hesitation is glarring
Lo there do I see my Father.
Lo there do I see my Mother and my Sisters and my Brothers.
Lo there do I see the line of my people back to the begining.
    Lo they do call me.
They bid me take my place among them.
In the halls of Valhalla where the brave may live forever.

That sounds interesting.Do you have a link for that?
I heard something about a "revamp" of the phantom menace where all of the dialogue of that dumb $h1t jar-jar was removed, redubbed with an alien voice with subtitles(?)
I was told that that alone totally changed the atmosphere & feel of those scenes.Has anyone seen this or know where it could be found?

I can't stand what they did to new hope in the official revamp with the stupid band in Jabbas, and Bobafett messing with the chicks. Bugs the crap out of me. Still love the original the best, I would watch this revamp you mention though.. This has insipired me to create a thread. Thanks.

I have SW Revisited downloaded on my computer; I got it off of some discussion site and I can provide a link if anyone requests it. I should warn you that you have to download the software for it -- bittorrent -- and that it takes up quite a bit of space on your hard drive. You can also watch trailers and clips from it on youtube by typing in Star Wars revisited. The name of the creator/editor is adywan.

The video quality of Revisited is superb beyond par, but I have some issues with the editing choices adywan has made. Almsot every single special effects shot has been redone/retouched/recrafted in some way, which can either be fun or sacreligious depending on your feelings about the original. For example, the Death Star now orbits a large bluish planet, and there are multiple new shots of the Death Star in its big reveal at the beginning of act 2. The cantina creatures now have moving eyelids and eyebrows. That kind of thing. In one wholly unnecessary change, Walrus Man's severed hand has been changed into a flipper, destroying all sense of what we are looking at and reducing the impact of the scene.

The biggest beefs I have with Revisited are the end space battle, which has been re-edited into a confusing jumble of images, and the conversation between Luke and Ben in Ben's hut on Tatooine. The end battle has a bunch of additional effects shots -- tons of new TIE fighters, and the surface of the red planet Yavin in the background -- but the way adywan has assembled them ruins the tight, carefully constructed sequence of shots that Lucas and his editors spent months putting together. The conversation scene has been reassembled to open with the holographic message from Leia, rather than climax with it; this puts the Clone Wars/Luke's father/Darth Vader backstory dialogue after the message, which interrupts our understanding of the scene, of what the imnportant plot points are. By the time Kenobi says "She needs you," flicking his eyes toward the spot where Leia's hologram appeared, we've forgotten all about her. It's a gross and nigh-unforgiveable misstep IMO.

That said, the Mos Eisley sequence has been beautifully toned down from the 1997 SE version, to include some but not all of the CGI shots ILM inserted into the film. Greedo has emotive facial expressions that help convey the character's seeming reality, and -- God bless adywan for this, at least -- Han shoots first.
