    The 80's "Whovies"

I kind of miss the "Whovies" from the early 80's ...

Incase you don't know what a Whovie is, it's a geek term for a Classic Doctor Who story that was turned into one full running movie.

Done for USA PBS stations in the early 80's.

I miss them because the flow of the show isn't interrupted by credits every 22 minutes ......

One thing I don't miss about them, some of them were edited REALLY bad

Weird thing, some of these Whovie's even made it to official VHS

I think I still have my Brian of Morbius tape.
    Weird...
They edited "Brain" down to one hour ...
WORST Whovie ever -- for them doing that.

They were actually re-edited to show at holiday times as condensed repeats on the BBC ...I certainly remember and loved them....wish you had the option on dvd to watch each version...and were actually the only way to "buy" Who on vhs prior to complete versions being demanded by fans....this also happened with Blakes 7 and other BBC progs

Did they ever do Planet of the Spiders ?

Spiders is unique because a good 5 minutes of the conclusion isn't the same as the 5 minute beginning of next weeks part.

I thought I might start buying some of the Audio Lost shows on C.D.
They'd be great to listen to on my way to work.

Mike, I taped many Whovies in NYC in the 80's ant I have checked some of the tapes-they're still pretty good. Do you want a copy of something in particular? I can check to see if I have it. I am missing much Pertwee after his season 1 but I have lots of other stuff.

I've got a few of the audios Barry...mainly the missing episodes stories. They are good with linking narratives provided usually by one of the actors involved (mainly a companion). A very good one is the "Power of the Daleks" one as it has an enhanced feature for playing on pcs which shows all the telesnaps of the show in concert with the audio.
