    Just got back...

We really enjoyed it! I can't say too much of course, but it's a totally different tone from Force Awakens. There's lots of little nuggets for the Star Wars geeks to watch and listen for and even bigger nuggets to be had.

I really enjoyed it. I thought it was the best Star Wars film since Empire.

I maybe able to catch the early bird 9am show tomorrow, Saturday...it's just a matter of whether I'll get up that early, lol.

I just want to avoid the larger crowds later in the day/night...

I loved it. It visually looks like it belongs immediately before Star Wars where its is set. I expected things in the film and was not disappointed (with one exception, but that part was expected).

I don't see every big superhero sci fi movie opening weekend anymore, and waited til the last minute for this, but am really glad I went.

I know many rate ESB above SW (aka ANH). I saw SW when I turned 10 - it changed my life and ESB doesn't exist without it, so SW is #1. ESB is #2 with TFA a close third, and Rogue One a close 4th. Then RotJ a distant fifth, Holiday Special 6th and RotS a far distant 7th. I don't acknowledge the existence of 1 and 2.

In order to avoid the crowds, we slipped in at the 9:30 am showing this morning. It was still full and seats were scarce. I really, really liked this movie. Even though it's an important link in the continuity, it really feels like it is it's own thing. It was totally freeing to walk in and see a Star Wars movie not knowing what the characters motivations were.

Because of this, And being spoiler free, I was able to enjoy this movie in a way that I haven't enjoyed Star Wars for a long time. I just sat there smiling in the dark. Everyone applauded at the end. It was deserved.

I didn't make it...couldn't get up before the 9am showing...Saturdays are my sleep in days, lol.

I'll try to catch it sometime next week...I do wanna watch it bad, but I can be patient too...no hurry...

I really enjoyed Rogue One, it was certainly delightful to me. I loved Rogue One. I place the movie at #4, right after The Original Trilogy.
It was a fantastic and pleasing film for me.

Greatly enjoyed the movie, but not as much as TFA. But I didn't expect to. I'm a "main characters" kind of guy. This is an epilogue or "zero issue" by modern comic standards. An incredibly well-crafted and well-acted film. Grittier than any other Star Wars film before it, but still LOTS of fun!

As of the next morning, my Star Wars rankings are:

ESB, ANH, FA, ROTJ, R1, ROTS, AOTF, TPM

The movie lacks spark and any sense of fun. The first hour is tedious and murky and the second half is more of the same old, same old land/space battle stuff. None of the new characters are interesting plus the movie suffers from too many turgid 'inspirational' speeches. Even the planets were boring and drab (although I liked the asteroid colony). All in all a depressing two hours. It's sad to see Star Wars run out of steam. Maybe Ep. VIII give us something new and fresh.. Maybe.
I am more than machine. More than man. More than a fusion of the two.

I loved it. yes, it is a little slow to get moving, but overall I really liked the movie. would have benefited from at least some of John Williams theme music, but I understand they wanted something different for this one. loved all the nods to A New Hope and also how they inserted so many pilots from ANH into the battle sequences. not to mention so of the awesome stuff which I won't mention in this thread so as not to spoil for anyone who has not seen it yet
