My "lost" Trek episode: Wink of an Eye

I don't think I had ever seen the 3rd season TOS episode "Wink of an Eye" until just a few days ago. Somehow, in watching Star Trek for 25 years or more I missed this one. All the Trek books I have mentioned this episode, where Kirk gets hyper-accelerated in order to mate with a similarly-accelerated alien chick to propogate their race. And I had heard of the infamous scene where Kirk and the alien chick-de-jour are seen in Kirk's quarters and she's brushing her hair and Kirk is sitting on his bed putting his boots back on

So I got all 3 seasons of Trek cheap from Amazon a month back, and decided to watch this for the first time. Not horrible, but the resolution was a bit rushed. Why didn't Spock and McCoy whip up more antidote for the 5 remaining Scolosians? They could then deaccelerate, and the queen coud mate to her hearts content and not have to kill off all her boyfriends.

And we all know James T. Kirk is the galaxy's greatest horndog, but c'mon, hostile aliens have taken over the ship and he takes time to make snoo-snoo? I know he was trying to win her confidence, but would he really have went to that extreme? Okay, maybe he would...

Over all, pretty forgettable, except for the "how'd the censors miss that" scene. But at least I finallyg to see it.

Hope I didn't step on your toes with this one Mike! I've been enjoying your examination of 3rd season episodes.

The Queen in Wink is actually Darren McGavins wife in real life

She died a few years ago.

Cool Mike. I didn't know that!

I gotta add, the male Scalosian costumes were some of Thesis' most feminine male costumes of the whole series. If I didn't know better I'd say he designed them for women and they just hired male actors.

        Snoo snoo?

Seriously though, that's a pretty good ep. But then, I like Spock's Brain, so... (draw your own conclusion)

I also wondered why no one gave the antidote to the Scalosians.

wow - spocks brain is a classic - How about an accessory that would fit a spock mego?

now that's an idea worth thinking about!

            >I also wondered why no one gave the antidote to the Scalosians.

Maybe it only worked on humans? McCoy was a whiz with human physiology but they'd shown a few times that he had trouble treating aliens.

It's on my list. EVERYONE should have a remote controlled Spock.

Even though the third season was kinda silly I still like most of the episodes.

I guess it's a good thing that Nurse Chapel never got her hands on Spock's remote control....
