I weas watching this Twilight Zone episode the other night and thought it had become partially true. It may have been written as a reaction to the hysteria of the McCarthy era. Seeing it now I thought the closest we have come to it was in regards to the tabloid media and the endless pursuit of celeberties.

Seeing it now I thought the closest we have come to it was in regards to the tabloid media and the endless pursuit of celeberties.

The paranoia shown in that episode goes on every day in the USA (and throughout the world)... I mean look at the way people of Middle Eastern descent are all suddenly marked as "terrorists" because of the paranoia established (and condoned) by the Bush administration... And the same can be said of a lot of the foreign nations: I'm sure their leaders are getting the citizens over there all hyped up and paranoid that everyone from the USA is some kind of war mongering imperialist.

Humanity sees and treats each other the same way those people on the TWILIGHT ZONE were treating the people singled out as a "monster" on their street...
