Aztec Rex on the Sci Fi Channel

It's about Hernan Cortes and his Conquistadores venturing into Aztec land and finding out there's still some T-Rexes around feasting on humans. Cool concept but badly executed.

The Spaniards are these clean cut nice guys who don't wanna sleep with Aztec women (yeah right, that's why there are 106 million Mexicans in Mexico now, lol).

The Aztecs are played by people of all assortments, Filipinos, Hawaiians, Samoans, etc...but no actual indigenous Mexicans, lol.

I mean, I'm all for anyone playing anyone here, but at least throw one single real Azteca/Mexica/Tarascan/Mestizo actor, a bone, lol.

They all spoke English of course.

The CGI was horrible...the T-Rex was pathetic. I've seen better T-Rex' at amusement parks.

    Oh, the acting?

But it was still a fun two hours.

They were actually speaking Spanish but the SF TV Translator translated it into English The Father said he taught the chief, his daughter and the shaman the language.

I enjoyed Rio and the chief's daughter the most. I had the feeling that the writers were thumbing their noses at Cortez and the Spanish in general. They could have exchanged a werejaguar for a T-Rex to set it apart from another dino movie.
Read my blog at Moongem Comics about comics, toys and more.

I had hoped for better, but it was still fun to watch. Stuff like Jurrasic Park, Walking With Dinosaurs and the new King Kong have really spoiled me in terms of CGI.

Sci-Fi channel has the cheesiest, worst movies on the planet. You would think they would invest some money into better scripts, better actors, and better effects. Also, when did wrestling become sci-fi? I see it's now part of their programming.

I missed the first few minutes, but ok, that's a good explanation.

Yeah, I get annoyed with programming like wrestling and movies that are not even remotely sci-fi/fantasy/horror.

I don't see the Sci Fi Channel yanking pro wrestling anytime soon though, it's their highest-rated show right now.

Hard to beleive that Dog Soldiers was a Sci Fi original movie with the quality of some of the flicks they put out now.
