Doctor Who Animated series w/ Patrick Troughton

adapting his first appearance in Power of the Daleks. I don't know much about the lost episodes, but I assume that the audio for this survives and is what they will be using for a soundtrack?

Joy for fans as Time Lord's epic fight with Daleks from 1966 is revived by BBC in animated six-part story

that sounds great. My kids and I tried to watch a reconstructed Abominable Snowman, but they could not really get over the still photo with audio behind it for storytelling. There was one piece of animation, sort of. The Doctor is supposed to open a door (I think) at an especially tense moment, and they animated his arm, cut out style on a still photo, to rotate at the elbow. I think it might have been timed to the creak of the door handle. It just made us laugh instead of increasing the drama of the moment. It would be great to see all the lost episodes get this sort of treatment.

I would love it if they used the same animation company that did The Invasion .... But i'm guessing they'll probably go with the more cheaper computer animations used in more recent releases.

These look ok but move like paper dolls

Yeah, the Invasion one is the only one I've ever sat through.

I didn't realize they had done this already... is The Invasion done officially through BBC?

One of my least favorite animations was The Massacre of St Bartholomew's Eve.

But I have to admit, the story itself had me yawning even in the live-action scenes

Great news. I have a copy of Power Of The Daleks but it's tough to watch with the way it's put together. I could never get passed part 3 because I start to loose interest.

I would take what The Mirror article said with a large grain of rock salt. They also reported back in 2013 that most of the missing Doctor Who episodes had been found, which wasn't true (though a couple of stories had actually been found).

The basis for this article is rumors going around on the net regarding an amazing animation of "Power of the Daleks" that leaked out recently, and was promptly removed from all video-sharing and social media sites. No one has yet stepped forward to take credit for the animation, which is well beyond the level of fan-made animations to this point. Of course, this has stoked rumors that the BBC is planning something for a release, but there's also the possibility that it was test footage submitted for a previous project. It's also interesting to note that it's in widescreen, where the original episodes were not.

Falcon, what are you referring to there? Do you have one of the reconstructions of "Power of the Daleks", by Loose Cannon perhaps?

Yeah, Cosgrove Hall did a great job animating the missing episodes of "The Invasion" for the BBC DVD release.
(They also did the animation on "Scream of the Shalka".)

So it looks like this animation is the real deal, commissioned by the BBC and intended for release.

There was an official blurb posted on the BBC site about it, but it was removed shortly after:

                        https://pbs.twimg.com/media/CrrdqfoW...jpg&name=large

Supposedly there is to be an announcement about it at midnight tonight.

I'm very excited about this, because this could mean great things for the rest of the missing 60s stories from the Doctor Who archive!

I had totally forgotten about Scream of the Shaka. Richard E Grant would still make a great Doctor.
(and this means both Withnail and "I" have been the Doctor!)
