    This is so well done. A story I had no clue about and I immediately went scrambling to find out a little more. I read this not too many weeks ago when I found out it was nominated for an Eisner Award. Certainly deserves the nomination!

              A small detail bothered me about this: If he was the co-pilot, shouldn't he have been in the cockpit helping man the controls?

              However, I found this on Snopes:

              Although The Oatmeal described Roddenberry as the "co-pilot" of the flight, other sources identified Roddenberry as the "third officer without flight responsibilities" or "a deadheading" pilot.
              Frankly, this makes way more sense. I assume it was simplified a bit for the comic, but the larger point still applies.
