I bet they would've loved to do any of those things, but there was already a lot of pricey giant cgi in the ep, and they had to draw the line somewhere.. the line being a giant breaking down a gate shown from the side that there's no giant

Unlike Hodor who died closing one.

Exactly , given him a sword. Imagine him swinging at those shields and spears

I liked that episode a lot, but if I could choose between watching a show starring Ramsey, who never bored me, or Snow, who only bores me...

Still, even I felt some satisfaction when Snow finally started landing some blows. Great build up - very well done.

And not bringing shields to an arrow fight? Stupid.
I agree, but the beauty of that episode wasn't the plot. We knew before the episode began exactly how it was going to go down. Dany's dragons were going to toast the Slaver Armada. Littlefinger's army would arrive at the nick of time and help Jon Snow defeat Ramsay. But the way that battle was filmed-- so big and so much chaos-- it was like the Saving Private Ryan of Middle Earth. It was a heckuva ride.

I can't wait to see what the finale holds. I expect some stuff is going to go down with Cersei's trial.
