^Won't matter who's doing it if nobody watches it. I already pay for satellite...I'm not paying extra for this pay-to-watch streaming only show. Paramount can go suck a tribble.
Good news!! "Nicholas Meyer will be returning to the final frontier for the first time in a quarter of a century! In addition to helming the original crew’s big screen swan song, Nicholas Meyer famously reinvented Gene Roddenberry’s vision of the future with his acclaimed Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan. Now, he’ll serve as writer and consulting producer for the new series."
Nicholas Meyer, the legendary director of Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan and Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country, is returning to the final frontier!
Well, more good news! If you read Meyer's "not so subtle HINT"...it sounds like the new Star Trek series is going to take place in TOS timeline, picking up right after Star Trek 6...YAHOO!!!!! I wonder who will be the next Captain of the Enterprise?
You read my mind. Ya know, it's funny because I talk to him at a Star Trek convention right after Star Trek 6 and he said he was pitching a show. He even had a name for it...CAPTAIN SULU! I told him I'd watch his show. Sadly, that was a long time ago...I feel he's to old now.
Sulu was already the Captain of his own ship in "The Undiscovered Country," so it's doubtful they would use him to helm this incarnation of the Enterprises's voyages. I'd like to see them bring in a fresh cast perhaps with ties to characters from TOS. Demora Sulu would probably be a good starting point since people are already familiar with the Sulu's and their connection to TOS.
sigpic Oh then, what's this? Big flashy lighty thing, that's what brought me here! Big flashy lighty things have got me written all over them. Not actually. But give me time. And a crayon.
