Interesting, but i'm very happy the way it turned out.

John Hurt brought more heart to the Doctor than we've ever seen in any other incarnation.

If Eccleston came back it would be mostly 98% back and forth bantering between him and the others.

Also, established in Rose, we all knew Ecclestion just regenerated ... That would leave Paul MaGann as the Time War Doctor --- which is well and good, but I don't see Moffat giving him that big of a role.

Also would have left too big a gap in the ending to Series 7.

Well, Eccleston says he's willing to do the 100th anniversary, so he's really eager to please the fans...
