In case it wasn't mentioned, the next two eps (3&4, I guess the premiere was 1&2) are available on demand right now, not just on the website.

I didn't know that. Thanks. I watched it on streaming.

I enjoyed the premiere and I have only read two books in the series (The Sword of Shannara and The Elfstones of Shannara). I enjoyed most of the characters but rolled my eyes at Wil even though I knew that he was supposed to be young and naive. I will be watching future episodes for however long the series lasts. I too think that having it on MTV seems to be an odd choice since it would be more suitable on a channel like Syfy.

I wonder how well the repeat the next night and again on VH1 did? It's still above norm for a Mtv show.

I still wish the channel would go back music and put something like this on another channel where it could have more viewers. Mtv has pretty much been ignored by anyone I know for many years.

well that's a shame. the show likely won't get a chance to find it's groove

yet MTV kept trash like Jersey shore on for years, go figure.

The ratings for the premiere were not good:

Well, there is too much modern speak, but I'll watch it anyway.

Perhaps ratings were low, that they now show four episodes on their web site.

They make everyone act like humans, I think that's a mistake.

I find some interest in it.

    The Codex was cool.

There's nothing wrong with soap opera-ish, as long as it's well written. This was not. Most of the time it was akin to a bad CW show, production values aside.

Even tho there's some tough competition, Will Ohmsford could be the prettiest girl on the show..

Yea, it was a little but overall I enjoyed it. It's a step up from MTV's usual and I thought it was pretty well produced. I'm sticking with it if all the episodes are close to this quality. I'm ready for the next installment already.

I read the Wheel of Time series as it came out....so it was over a very very long time....what, maybe 20 years?

but in fairness the Shannara books have been getting published since the late 70's and I have enjoyed them all, but the original trilogy and the first quartet that followed were the best

me too. Those were great. My mom bought me the first one saying, "this looks like something you'd like". She knew I was a Tolkien nut, and I did. Read them for years.

In the books, do Elves have facial hair?

I really enjoyed the Chosen episode.

Many the characters seem super-young to me now, don't know their book age.

-but, the show was a treat for me.

I loved seeing John Rhys-Davies in it, he was excellent.

Many good things in the show.

They should make an online game for it, of course, World of Warcraft might have used things from the books already.
