It would be a damn shame if it does turn out to be his final season. Capaldi is brilliant as the Doctor.

This speculation has been going on since almost day one for Capaldi.
We'll see when it happens, and just enjoy his performance for now. He's great!

It's kind of amusing how many "pretty boy" Doctor fans are rejoicing claiming Capaldi is "the worst" and they need to "bring back David Tennent" because that's how this all works. Capaldi is easily my favourite actor of the new wave of Doctors, he's more "doctory" than any of them and I really liked Smith.

I like him as The Doctor. The scripts he's given not so much.

On reflection I think Tennant is my least favorite new Doctor.

Would have never thought it at the time but Tennant was very annoying.

If he would only speak clearly Capaldi would be my second favorite new Doctor, after Matt Smith.

Technically, if Capaldi were to call it quits with his next season, he would only be following in his two predecessors footprints. Tennant did 2,3 and 4 (and the Specials, of course). Matt Smith did 5,6 and 7. Capaldi's done 8, 9 and will be in 10. That's three seasons each. Would I love to see Capaldi stick around longer? Of course, as I would've loved to have seen his predecessors stay in the role longer, but I'm guessing that the actors playing The Doctor only do so while they're really feeling the character so I'd rather see them finish their run and then regenerate rather than have them phone in performances.
sigpic Oh then, what's this? Big flashy lighty thing, that's what brought me here! Big flashy lighty things have got me written all over them. Not actually. But give me time. And a crayon.

Speculation for sure, surprise not really as past practice has shown the doctors have been lasting three seasons so I was thinking this already.
I actually like capaldi but I've liked almost all the doctors anyway.
I've just recently been watching the musketeers on Netflix which has capaldi in it what a great little gem of a show.

I just wish they would throw away the 3 year limit. Yeah I know it goes back to the old series but there are times you wish they would stick around longer.

Same here,I would really have liked to have seen smith do one more year.
Oh what the heck Tennant as well.
I get that it keeps the character fresh but often times I may not even really like the new doctor until halfway through one season.
I find they really hit their stride in the second season.
Well if they are going to do the usual replacement after 3 seasons lets get the ball rolling for Sean Pertwee to take the new lead!!!

I'd like to see the BBC make the decisions when to fire a Doctor rather than leaving it up to the producer.

If a Doctor is doing well it seems you don't mess with something good because the producer artistically would like to change things on his whim.

This is how we lost Tom Baker and it went downhill from there.

Yes,I can agree but then again I would not have been happy or a fan if dr's (5,6,7) Peter Davison,Colin Baker,
Sylvester McCoy all had the same run as Tom baker did.
I don't hate them but they are the dark years as far as I'm concerned.

3 seasons seems to be the norm now for a Doctor stint. I still wish Eccleston had done a couple more seasons.
