Which is Nerdier: Star Wars or Star Trek?

I am a fan of both, but I'd immediately say Trek. Go to a Trek forum, and you'll find a hundred guys granting themselves the rank of Admiral in their forum name..

I guess both have some nerdy stuff, IMO Star Wars is targeted towards the younger crowd, and Trek is more
towards the adults, I personally am more a Trek guy than Wars guy, as a kid I enjoyed both, but for me now,
Wars lost its appeal but still worth seeing and enjoying.Comment

Also, Star Trek (in all forms) deals with a lot of current social commentary... Example, the Donald Trump situation of today could easily be made into a Star Trek episode.
On the other hand Star Wars is almost a lost biblical story in disguise - which is fine but doesn't leave much room for anything beyond good vs bad.Comment

Gene Roddenberry was rumored to have been a very eccentric man. But he didn't have complete creative control over Trek. He had many ideas for Trek that would have been very poorly received had they been used. He also didn't have the power to declare the original Trek series lost to time and replaced by special editions. You are a bold and courageous person, afraid of nothing. High on a hill top near your home, there stands a dilapidated old mansion. Some say the place is haunted, but you don't believe in such myths. One dark and stormy night, a light appears in the topmost window in the tower of the old house. You decide to investigate... and you never return...Comment

I think LOTR actually has a pretty decent sized female fanbase these days. Legolas is very popular.
If you are going by a lack of diversity, I think collectible card games are probably up there as some of nerdiest.
Many years ago I went to a hobby store looking for D&D stuff. I walk in and the place goes silent and half dozen tables filled with guys playing Magic the Gathering all stop and stare at me like I'm some kind of alien. "Umm, Hi, I'm looking for some D&D minis." Yeah, that was awkward. I generally buy my D&D stuff online now.You are a bold and courageous person, afraid of nothing. High on a hill top near your home, there stands a dilapidated old mansion. I was just being silly. I enjoy the LOTR films to a point. Only saw one Hobbit film though. My barometer for nerdiness is my Wife, who thought FOTR was over when they formed the Fellowship at Rivendale, and she began to get out of her seat.Comment

I guess if you saw Shat's SNL "Get A Life" skit, you'd say Star Trek. I like Star Wars, but to me, it's like the same thing as Challenge of the SuperFriends. Basically the same plot over and over. With Challenge, it's defeating the SuperFriends, and world domination. With Star Wars, it's The Force and The Dark Side. Battles and special effects are all it has going for it, in my opinion."Do you believe, you believe in magic?
'Cos I believe, I believe that I do,
Yes, I can see I believe that it's magic
If your mission is magic your love will shine true."Comment
