Let's not forget that George Lucas (who I idolize) repeated himself storywise as early as Return of the Jedi's Second Death Star. George himself admitted that Prequel situations that mirrored Original Trilogy stories were like rhyming stanzas of poetry.
The internet has made us all a bit hyper critical. That, and growing up. I say, just go with it, let the storyteller tell you a story. If you don't like it, that's okay. No need to convince everyone else that they shouldn't like it either.
