Just got back. No spoilers, but that is the first film I've ever seen where the whole audience cheered and clapped when characters first appeared on screen...and at the end. I was right there with them.

Saw it twice today, once in IMAX 3D and once in standard 3D. Will see it again tomorrow in 2D.
Waiting for a dedicated spoiler-sanctioned thread to start before I post anything.
Yeah... it did seem strange seeing a SW movie with no Fox fanfare preceding it.
But I'd mentally prepared myself beforehand for its absence.
It's just the Lucasfilm logo and then straight into the "A long time ago in a galaxy far, far away..." text.

Going to see it in IMAX this evening. Can't believe they've done such a good job of keeping everything secret/spoiler free. Helps I haven't spent much time in Internet last few days since it's officially screened.Leave a comment:

For those who are going or who have already been, just a question that you should be able to answer without presenting any spoilers. Did the very opening seconds of the movie "feel" any different since there is (presumably) no 20th Century Fox fanfare music, something I associate with STAR WARS since it's been the first thing that ever came up on screen before every movie...

Emerald - IIRC, Williams thought it was because the Fox horns end and his SW horns begin in a similar range, so it sounds like one piece was made to lead into the other.
JRT - yep and yep.Leave a comment:

I don't actually think I know anything,'cos I know everything, lol! Still not gonna spoil it for you guys though, even though I did for myself......and not even seen the movie yet. To be honest,I'm in no rush to see this, but will probably see it while in L.A. on xmas vacation.
Not everyone is positive about it though, but I can't really tell you why without spoiling it,so I'll wait a week or so,lol. Most people say it's good though, adding a but.....and go on about what they weren't happy with. Just hope SW fandom doesn't go the way of Trek fandom. GEE! lol! I like both so I don't care. Trek teaser trailer looked like fun.

I'm doing some Star Wars science related demonstrations at a theater tonight and then seeing it Sunday morning with the whole family.Leave a comment:

But back on topic, I'm planning on a Friday matinee showing. My small town has plenty of showings all day, and I don't expect a problem with walk-up. I'm supposed to be seeing it with the wife and extended family after Xmas, but I want it done ASAP for spoiler's sake.Leave a comment:
