    New Star Trek series coming...kinda.

Paramount announced a new Star Trek series coming to TV in January 2017...the bad news? After the pilot it's going to be a streaming-only series for which you'll have to pay CBS $5.99 a month if you want to watch it.

This is TOTAL BS. People need to stop supporting this streaming video garbage. Look now many movies and TV shows Netflix has dumped recently.

I'm already paying a fortune for DirecTV which INCLUDES CBS, and I'll be damned if I'm paying extra money to them just to watch a new series. The only way the networks will get the message is if people refuse to watch streaming TV.

they have not said much about the new show other than Kurtzman's involvement

I agree with enyawd72 though, I am not paying to stream CBS shows. they are one of the big 4 networks, pay for streaming is total BS

I don't have cable. The only show I pay for is Walking Dead and Cake Boss.

We buy both shows thru Amazon, and the quality ranges from acceptable to poor. I purchased the movie "Tales of Halloween" from iTunes and it got stuck and buffered so much, it doubled the running time of the film. And I have a robust, high speed internet and wireless in my house. I hate streaming. Half the time, Amazon analyzes my connection speed and automatically downgrades my Hi Def Walking Dead to Standard Def, which looks like crap in my (blessed to own it) 110 inch projection screen.

Give me a blu ray, but the infrastructure for streaming just doesn't exist in my opinion.

It sounds interesting, but having to pay for it? don't we pay enough already for cable tv?

I agree. I don't even bother anymore trying to watch any streaming shows from directv or amazon because of all the constant buffering and stuttering making them pretty much unwatchable.
You are a bold and courageous person, afraid of nothing. High on a hill top near your home, there stands a dilapidated old mansion. Some say the place is haunted, but you don't believe in such myths. One dark and stormy night, a light appears in the topmost window in the tower of the old house. You decide to investigate... and you never return...

There's no show out there I would be willing to pay extra for above my cable bill.

It's like all companies nowadays nickel-and-dime people to death with extras ..

                I'm not falling for it.

I dropped cable and don't mind paying for a show here or there as its much cheaper. My streaming experience seems better than most, as I don't notice buffering or stuttering.

I have zero problems with streaming stuff, no buffering and the picture is fine. The people that do have problems are either the victims of internet/cable companies throttling back internet service to Netflix and amazon. Brighthouse did it here for a little while with Netflix but stopped after they received enough complaints and a letter from the fcc. I personally won't pay extra for shows, I guess CBS is testing the waters for getting out of broadcast tv.

if I have to pay for it, I will just wait for it on bluray and buy it so I can watch it over and over, and in hi-def

^THIS! It will eventually come to blu ray. All it takes is the Jedi virtue of patience. Oops, I mean Vulcan virtue.

If it's set in the new J.J. Abrams-Verse timeline...I'll pay for it! They should use Decker for Captain of the Ship...you know, like when he was young. I would have LOVED to have a show based on Bruce Greenwood as Cpt.Pike...damn shame the killed him off.

That's exactly what's happening. With more people downloading or streaming shows, the networks are not getting as much money for their shows. As profits lessen, they're trying to find ways to be in the places people are consuming content (and of course monetizing the new distribution methods).

                              I'm gonna miss TV.
