Anybody ever see Dark Star ?

I always wanted to see this movie - hearing about it in fan circles back in the day, but never got around to seeing it.

Ages and ages ago. It was very low budget and weird.

Saw it on VHS many moons ago, and really can't even remember much about it.

I had to look it up on Wiki, the name was familiar but I could not place it. Don't think I ever watched it. it's a Carpenter movie though so I would give it a shot

Just rewatched it, I can see the Red Dwarf influence.

Love this movie. It's silly, yes, and lowbudget. But it's intelligent and funny, and it's vintage Carpenter.
It's also the brainchild of Dan O'Bannon, who would later bring us Alien.

It's a fun movie. Some interesting concepts, but obviously a limited budget. I'd say it would be worth your time. It will give you a fun 70s vibe too.

I love the far-out ideas, like the Captain who is cryo frozen, but you can still ask him questions, the smart bomb (too smart), and the fact that it has the scariest alien ever....
