I loved Sky Captain and would have been thrilled to see Conran's take on John Carter.

That said, I enjoyed the Disney film; I was dismayed by the lack of merchandise and the fact that the trilogy will stand incomplete.

The Clampett stuff is amazing for the time it was done. The Demo Reel is also incredible. I would pay to see a well made animated version of John Carter. Looks almost like an extension of what was started way back when with Heavy Metal. Thanks for sharing this Ed. Never even knew this stuff existed.

The Clampett work was a surprise to me, also--it's discussed on the Disney dvd extras.

What gets me about Clampett's work is exactly what got me about the old Fleischer Superman cartoons from the 40's...the fluidity that the animation moves at is amazing...also the perspective it comes at you. It's almost like you are the bad guy that John Carter is facing in the Clampett piece. And that was back in the early 40's which just blows my mind that Fleischer/Clampett were that advanced beyond anything that Disney was doing at the time. Disney wouldn't achieve that fluidity/movement in their animation until Cinderella came out almost 10 years later.
