Game of Thrones current season- Is it just me? (spoilers)
this season has been hit or miss. the 8th episode with the walkers taking out the wildlings was one of the best episodes of the entire series. I can't wait for the ******* Bolton to get offed. that dude is just plain evil
Ramsay Bolton is indeed one sick individual. Can they at least let Sansa remove some of his body parts? Nothing much...like what he did to Greyjoy...

This season felt really stagnant to me. At one point I felt like if I heard Jon Snow's "I took an oath to protect the realm" speech one more time I was going to be done with the whole thing.
I hate to admit it, but even the bleakest moments near the end of the season, like the cute girl being burned to death and the pedophile creep, were a bit 'been-there-done-that' for me. Like, we've seen every form of debauchery and horrific human behavior - I don't know if the show can really shock me anymore.
Having said that, some of the action and drama in the last two episodes made up a lot for me. While I wasn't riveted by the story that much this season it's still a really well done show, overall. AND it's my wife's favorite show. So, I'm going to see it no matter what I think.
I had to skip a lot of posts, because I haven't read the books and don't want to know what's coming for the show.
SPOILER FREE
I don't think you have to worry about that as much as before Aaron, at this point the show has caught up with and in some parts passed the books. Plus there were some big changes and omissions made so the show and books have almost become different animals in many ways (kind of like Walking Dead). There are a couple major things that happened in the book that haven't happened on the show yet but at this point it looks like the show is not going to include them IMO. So overall I don't you have to worry about spoilers from the book as much as you used to. If anything, the show is causing spoilers for the book readers now.
I'm still all in. It's going to be fascinating to see what happens next year. There may be a new book by then and we might end up with dueling story lines as the show and books diverge simultaneously. I think they've eliminated a lot of the right stuff and truncated what needed to be condensed.
As to the unrelenting hopelessness and senseless violence. Well, that's just politics. Sometimes you have to choose between the sadistic rapist and the child-immolator.
I don't think they will do that death. they are going in another direction. besides I don't think he is really dead in the books either, we will see in volume 6.
That death was how A Dance with Dragons (the last book) ended, the show has caught right up to the books, Winds of Winter "might" be released before Season 6 debuts next year but, I am not holding my breath. So, barring that miracle, Season 6 will be uncharted territory for all of us.
Man, I tried to stay away from the internet as much as possible today because I couldn't watch the finale until tonight! Great, grim episode, I loved it! And finally, zombie/Frankenstein Mountain! Lots of ambiguous possible deaths tonight though, except for Meryn Trant, Arya took care of him really well, that one was certain. Not sure about some of the others.
SPOILER ?
Pure conjecture at this point, not an actual book spoiler...
Lots of rumours flying around about the actual fate of Jon (most book readers don't believe he's really dead dead, I have my doubts myself. I think Melisandre is back at Castle Black for a reason...).

Hahaha - that's the thought that literally popped into my mind just now. They just happened to bring Melisandre back to the wall? Also, didn't Snow say something about Sam's quick recovery - or am I remembering that wrong?
EDIT: My wife who pays much more attention to the show when Snow is speaking told me I heard the conversation wrong. Snow wasn't saying Sam recovered quickly, he was asking how Sam could perform sexually after being beaten close to death. I was playing on my iPad at the time.
