How many times did you see Star Wars in 1977 ?

    I seen it 7 times

First time was the premier ---"standing room only" --- bet you'd never see that nowadays.

I only saw it once. But I am proud to say I saw it during the opening week. My parents took me and my older sister. I was in awe.

Being a 70s/80s kid I didn't see Batman or Trek until they were in syndication years after the shows had ended. So I missed out on all that. But Star Wars, I was there when it happened. So it means a lot to me. It was truly a special moment in time and cultural phenomenon that had never been seen before or since.
You are a bold and courageous person, afraid of nothing. High on a hill top near your home, there stands a dilapidated old mansion. Some say the place is haunted, but you don't believe in such myths. One dark and stormy night, a light appears in the topmost window in the tower of the old house. You decide to investigate... and you never return...

        I went a bit crazy.
I went every week it played, often taking new people along to show them what a great movie it was.
I must have seen it over 15 times, I guess.

Btw, in those days it tooks 6 months for a movie to arrive in Belgium, so SW started here in December...

Saw it multiple times during the summer of 1977, mostly at our local 1 screen theatre in Ontario. Every chance I got, I went to see it again, with parents, friends, parents of friends, etc. etc. Also saw it a few times at our neighbouring town's theatre, too. And then it came to our local drive in, so I went a bunch more times. And then saw it again when it got its thetrical re-releases. I was obsessed with the movie, and still am. Great memories.

You guys are so lucky. I never got to see it at all...my parents always had the same answer. "You don't need to see that movie. You don't need that toy. You don't need a birthday party." blah blah blah.

            I always envied other kids.

I think I might have seen it 4-5 times, but they did do other showings of it later, before Empire came out, so I probably saw it well over 10-12 times I think.

My parents wouldn't take me in 77 either. I finally was invited by a friend of mine in 1980 to go prior to Empire coming out. That was the only time I saw it in the theater. What I remember most though is him pointing out to me a few scenes that were already cut differently at that point. IIRC the version that we saw cut the Luke\ Biggs meeting on Yavin cause I remember having to ask why Luke was so upset that the one pilot died but he was not so bummed about the others
                It's all good!

I saw Empire at the premiere in London (Leicester Square Odeon), and Jedi during its first run in Johannesburg, South-Africa.

I still have the theatre tickets...

I think I saw it three or four times in 1977. I was there for the first showing when it finally opened in my area. It was maddening to have to wait since it did not have a wide release and I'd been reading the Marvel Comics adaptation. I was more than ready when I finally saw it and was totally blown away by it. I also saw it again during its rereleases.

Saw it opening night in the city that made the Toys Kenner in Cincinnati, Ohio. Went back a few times during the same summer. Tom Cruise went to my High School as well. Nope never met the little guy but were in the same year book.

I had seen Star Wars only once, but that's all I needed, to love it and then get all the action figures
Vader and Storm Trooper were my first 2, since I was a big fan of the Empire.

I did see Jurrassic Park 3 times the first 2 days in the theater and never needed to buy a ticket,

                          1. Free pass, 2. friend owed me money and bought my ticket, 3. Friend talked me into going again and
bribed me with buying my ticket.

Unfortunately I had to buy my own ticket for Lost World and JP 3, but it was much more affordable back then
I am though gearing up for Jurrassic World on June 12th

As with many others here I only saw it once as a kid in the theater. The strange thing is it was the only movie I saw as a kid where they showed a cartoon before it. It was a 1950s Tom & Jerry.

Does anyone remember seeing a Three Stooges short before the movie?
