    Jonny Quest

Anyone know if the original 60s animated series is out on DVD? I have seen that the remake was put out but not sure about the original.

It seems so odd, now, that "The Adventures of Jonny Quest" only had one season of new episodes in 1964-65 on ABC. Then, it aired on CBS and NBC until the early 70's on Saturday mornings. One would have thought that more episodes would have been produced, at the time. However, I understand that it really gained much of it's popularity once it began airing in syndication.

I really love that series. It was so well written and animated. But, regarding the DVD release, I hate that Hanna-Barbera censored it. I'm bet it's mainly adults buying it for themselves to watch. I digress.

Jonny Quest is one of shows were the ratings didn't justify the cost of production. Since it was made in realistic style it cost more to produce than a standard cartoon. I love the show and wish there were more episodes. Fortunetly what there is hold up to repeated viewing.

^Phil, I didn't realize that the show was much more expensive to produce than most other animated series, of the time period. What you said makes sense. It's too bad, though. And, I agree, the existing episodes are so good they do hold up to repeated viewing.

It was very expensive at the time, and tedious.

If you have interest in Jonny Quest, and have the time, watch these documentaries about it on Youtube. There's three parts and it's well worth your time.
