I am more than machine. More than man. More than a fusion of the two. -
There is a really fine line between stuff that looks cool, and stuff that looks like it came out of a fanfilm. With George out of the picture, I really hope this eschews the "Expanded Universe" feel, and successfully taps into the veritas of a "Real" Star Wars movie. It's a hard target to hit.Comment

anyone else think the Stormtroopers are smiling?Comment

Soms of the designs don't completely appeal to me.
The face mask of the Dark Sider kind of reminds me of a motorcycle helmet part. Which, like Hedji said, gives it a fanfilm feel.
The shiny stormtrooper with a cape? Why? Is the weather a bit cold?
The lightsaber design is pretty illogical, the owner would propably scorch his own wrist with that.
So for now, I'm not yet convinced.
Hey, maybe Dark Side guy will take off the mask and...it's Luke Skywalker....

I agree, the Stormtroopers do tend to lean a little towards a smiley facelook. As the for masked villain---well he's no Darth Vader, for certain. From the very outset, Vader had presence and his helmet was unique and different---science fiction's answer to Doctor Doom kind of. This new bad guy, impossibly retarded light saber aside ("I must strike at you---oww (the laser hilt scorches him)--for the Empire to--OooOOww (hilt gets him again)---rise again---ooOooWWw (once more that pesky hilt gets him)!!!), just seems a little---generic and stale to me. His mask/helmet definitely has the biker vibe that Gorn Captain mentioned above and it also reminds me a lot of another character whose mask shares a similar design, but whose name evades me at the moment.
sigpic Oh then, what's this? Big flashy lighty thing, that's what brought me here! Big flashy lighty things have got me written all over them. Not actually. But give me time. And a crayon.Comment

I love Star Wars The Force Awakens teaser.
That stuff doesn't bother me this time, but I agree the tri-saber is not practical in laser sword combat. It may be an old design, before Jedi learned better.
One person on youtube coverage, made a good point that this title does not wrap around like the old ones.
Is Max von S. Sith?, I wonder.
What bugs me, though, is that all this stuff seems new to the characters, when they should have been entrenched in all things 'Force' for the last thirty-two years. Not to wait 3 decades and mention their family is strong in The Force.
Oh well, Ben and Yoda's plan for Luke was a bit patchy to begin with, and waiting 18 years is no way to run a proper revolt.
How about those reverse color TIE Fighters? Cool, Huh? White inside, black or grey outside.Comment
