Heavy Metal or Heavy Metal 2000 F.A.K.K 2

I just saw a bit of South Parks Ode to Heavy Metal. (Have to catch the whole thing sometime what I saw was a blast) So with that inspiration on to a new thread.......

The original Heavy metal featured several short stories all linked by an evil Orb called the Loc Nar. Terrific music and gallons of animated blood , gore, sex. The stories covered everything from Sci fi (Captain Stern), Fantasy (Den of Earth) WWII (B-17)

The sequel Heavy Metal 2000 or F.A.K.K.2 (Federation Assigned Ketogenic Killzone) Involves a single story. A space miner driven insane hijacks his ship on a quest to find immortality. A sexy young woman seeks revenge. A great evil could be released into the universe. Lots a blood, sex and mayhem.

So..... Anyone see either? Which one was your favorite? And If you like the first one better which story in particular was your favorite?

Hands down for me would be the first one. This is a great "late night, watch with a good buzz going" type movie. The music was kick A #@ and the animation was first rate. If I had to pick a favorite story. (And this would be hard cause I thought they were all good) it would have to be "B-17" When ever I think of this movie my first thought is of the Zombie bomber crew.

    So whats your opinion?

Lo there do I see my Father.
Lo there do I see my Mother and my Sisters and my Brothers.
Lo there do I see the line of my people back to the begining.
    Lo they do call me.
They bid me take my place among them.

I don't even acknowledge Heavy Metal 2, it's just a big excuse for Kevin Eastman to glorify his scream queen wife. It was on TV here last night and I just couldn't sit through it.

Loved Heavy Metal as well as American Pop

Not so much for the stories, but because they both looked classy
I think they were both animated using ROTOSCOPING (like the old Max Fleischer Supermans)
Something very uncommon-- especially in the 80's when animation was at it's lowest low.

I didn't see the South Park tribute or Heavy Metal 2000 F.A.K.K 2

        Hmmmm....

DEFINITELY the original. Heavy Metal 2000 was an unwatchable, poorly concieved mess of low-rent fan service. Even the COMIC was unreadable! How'd Teletoon put it in the ad this week? "Featuring sex, blood and a lot of other stuff... and by other stuff we mean f*****g bad dialogue!"

        That was the actual ad.

FUN FACT: Nelvana was supposed to produce the original, but truned it down for "Rock and Rule." Which is my all time favourite movie....

Heavy Metal is a touchstone of my hormone soaked adolescence. It's a part of the group of movies I was able to sneak into or go with an older friend back in the day (Cat People, American Werewolf In London and The Thing are other ones in this group). I used to be able to get away with getting Heavy Metal magazine at stores and couldn't wait for the movie.

Loved the movie and loved the South Park parody

          Never saw Heavy Metal 2

I'm curious, so far everyones going for the original but no one is saying what particular short story was their favorite?

Captain Sternn. Just some great lines in there...
“As human beings we all want to be happy and free from misery… we have learned that the key to happiness is inner peace. The greatest obstacles to inner peace are disturbing emotions such as anger, attachment, fear and suspicion, while love and compassion and a sense of universal responsibility are the sources of peace and happiness.” - The Dalai Lama
