new flash gordon movie might be a sequel to the 1980 film

Last year it was reported Star Trek 3 writers JD Payne and Patrick KcKay were hired to write a script for a Flash Gordon reboot that 20th Century Fox is developing. I think that this is an awesome franchise that is actually ripe for a reboot,

Sam Jones said: "However they want to use me, I'm very excited. I told Matt, however he wants to use me, keep one thing in mind: whatever a younger, leading man can do, I cannot only match him, I can do more! If he does 20 pull-ups, I can do 30 pull-ups. If he can do 100 push-ups, I can do 150 push-ups. Just keep that in mind!”

Geez. Read that in your head in Adam West's voice and it's 1988 all over again.

I say bring Sam back! He's two years younger than Liam Neeson, the current action movie king.

Hmmm... I dunno what he looks like in person... but in Ted, he looks like a grandfather zombie---but that just may be the "cocaine Sam" we're looking at.

I am not even reading the article for fear that I might see something to make me believe it ISN't a sequel.

After it's a hit I hope Sam gets a part in Expendables 7.

Neat! I hope Sam Jones is in it.
You are a bold and courageous person, afraid of nothing. High on a hill top near your home, there stands a dilapidated old mansion. Some say the place is haunted, but you don't believe in such myths. One dark and stormy night, a light appears in the topmost window in the tower of the old house. You decide to investigate... and you never return...

The unfortunate part is Max Von Sydow is probably locked up in Star Wars for a while. He was absolutely perfect as Ming.

I love 1980s Flash Gordon...especially on surround sound with Queen blasting in the background.

Even without Freddie...the filmmakers should try to get Queen again...I'll be content with Adam Lambert singing...as long as I get to hear that famous Brian May guitar riff...that would rule.

                        Is Ornella Muti still available?
Man, the effect she had on my younger self was indescribable. I think she single-handedly got me through puberty!

I'll certainly go see it when it comes out, but I'm pretty firm in believing that original movie is a time piece that can't be duplicated. Hopefully it will bring it's own merits and not just try to mimic the original.

What I didn't know until recently, is that the original soundtrack (not used in the film) had several themes which got the "Queen" treatment and were then used on the final version.
This soundtrack has been released now, and it's a shame the composer (Howard Blake) didn't even get a credit for some good tracks which I thought were Queen originals.
I'm a big fan of Queen, but that just wasn't right...
