    Farscape or Lexx

Things have quieted down some so time for another topic.

Both shows, Farscape and Tales from a Parallel Universe Or Lexx(Depending where you seen it) deal with a group of space adventures tooling around the universe in living space ships.

Any fans of either show want to share their opinions?

Its a hard decision for me. I like the writing and effects for both shows.

Lexx might have a a bit of a lead for having more interesting characters. A dead guy , a sex slave, a loser and a robot head.

    What do you all think?
Lo there do I see my Father.
Lo there do I see my Mother and my Sisters and my Brothers.
Lo there do I see the line of my people back to the begining.
    Lo they do call me.
They bid me take my place among them.
In the halls of Valhalla where the brave may live forever.

I didn't dislike either series but I could never really get into farscape for reasons unknown to me, good cast, good writing and a creative look but maybe a bit too "Star Wars" for me, I don't know.

Lexx reminded me a lot of the Micronauts comics (I had heard that some of the Lexx FX guys were micronaut collectors) so I watched it often, Xenia Seeburg was also a big reason. I really had trouble with Stanley Tweedle though, it was too "Dr. Smith" for me at times.

Farscape, definitely. Lexx always seemed like it was written by horny teens

I couldn't get into either very much. I favored Farscape but watched LEXX, ( propbably for Xenia Seeburg more than anything), more often. I think Farscape went downhill, not necessarily jumping the shark, after John Chrichton was rescued from the guy who zapped his mind. After that it seemed every story had too many drug/hallucination episodes. Plus a lot of supporting characters kept coming and going out of the show.

I could tell Farscape was a good show, but I just didn't want to invest the time to keep up with it. Lexx was good for the eye candy. I casually watched both from time-to-time. I give both points for doing a Sci-Fi show that didn't seem overly-Trek-like. Not easy to do, apparently.

Kai - "I killed mothers with their babies. I've killed great philosophers , proud young warriors and revolutionaries. I've killed the evil, the good, the intelligent, the weak and the beautiful. I have done this in the service of his Divine Shadow and his Predecessors. And I have never once shown any mercy"

That is one bad A## line.

I don't want to insult you Seeker but it seems these 2 shows seem to be part of a whole area of tv where they just don't rise above a certain level. You could probably group Andromeda, Earth the Final Conflict into this catagory as well. Other shows like Doctor Who, Torchwood, Galactica, Babylon 5 and Stargate seem to get bumped up a bit more in recognition.

Oh sure I'm not saying these shows are top of the line like Galactica, Dr who or Trek. They are simply two shows that have some basic similarities. I plan on bringing up further comparison thread now and again in the furure.
If you happen to like one or both topics that come up feel free to post your thoughts. If you dont then dont post.

I have seen several good discussions born from the Trek/ Star Wars and the Old and New Battlestar threads. Heck even the Joke Flipper thread was funny.

I loved the first episode of LEXX. I remember it didn't interest me much after only a few episodes. I can't remember why.

Is Farscape just another in a long line of sci fi channel formula sci fi shows with no identity of its own?

Farscape was one of the few original shows the Sci-Fi Channel has done that I cared enough to watch. I think if more people actually watched a few episodes they'd enjoy it.

Lexx is not in the same league as Farscape.

                            Farscape by a mile.
