I really hope this makes a comeback. One of the problems is, X-Files is going to have to deal with all the other supernatural shows out there. X-Files holds it place in TV/Supernatural Mythos. It introduced us to a whole new world of might be happing in the dark. With Supernatural, Charmed, Constantine, even (Not)Finding Bigfoot, X-Files will have a hard time finding it own why back.

they also have to get the stars back. part of what made the show work was the chemistry between Anderson and duchovny. which is ironic since they reportedly hate each other

Anderson wants it, she has said so and tweeted it.

I want to believe this. Not.
I liked X-Files, especially the first three seasons, but it was enough.
I think Fringe more or less handled anything else that could have happened, and those characters were slightly more interesting.
Both X-Files stars didn't like each other, so it seems more a case of "The paycheck is out there."

Bittersweet, but I'm gonna say ok, only because Chris Carter will demand a whole lotta creative control this time around, should it happen. He's brilliant and knows how to develop serious talent in creative teams. Many of which went on to more greatness with other projects/movies/shows after the Files. Even now, Carter's influence on the genres explored across his shows resonates.

If the re-venture goes the way of a compromised Fox executive produced late-season Millennium, then it's doomed and will certainly tarnish the mythos.

Over the weekend, fans of The X-Files received some exciting news. Fox announced that they have been discussing reviving The X-Files. The show ran on Fox from 1993-2002. Fox didn't elaborate on the news because the process was in the early stages. Though, they did mention that they have reached out to series creator Chris Carter and the two stars of the series David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson.

We knew from a recent Nerdist podcast that Anderson is excited to play FBI Agent Dana Scully again, but what about Duchovny. He recently told USA Today he's ""more than happy and excited to bring it back and do it again with (co-star) Gillian (Anderson) and (series creator) Chris (Carter)."

David Duchovny, 54, expects that if The X-Files does come back in some form it "will happen sooner rather than later." Also, don't expect it to be a full season. "Certainly I can't nor would I be interested in doing a full season," Duchovny said. "It will be in some kind of limited form. We're all old, we don't have the energy for a full season."

Well this does sound like a promising deal.

Wow, Duchovny feels that at age 54, he can no longer do a full season.
What has he been doing to wear himself out like that?

Looking forward to the return of Scully and Mulder. Be kind of interesting for them to pass the torch onto the next pair of FBI folks who get to investigate the unknown.
sigpic Oh then, what's this? Big flashy lighty thing, that's what brought me here! Big flashy lighty things have got me written all over them. Not actually. But give me time. And a crayon.

Agreed. "I Want To Believe" was a muddled up mess of movie. Duchovny and Anderson seemed like they were just kind of phoning in their performances...
