    New Trek movie pics

Heres the elusive Trek pics that showed up the other day. Paramount is getting them pulled left right and center, so these may not last long.

WARNING!!--I noticed there is a disturbing and rather graphic photo that comes up on the same page that is decidely NOT Trek related...It is gross and can be offensive....dont say you werent warned!

I thought the comment after the images was quite interesting:
"What do you think? I grew up living and breathing the Roddenberry philosophy: 23rd century technology should be clean, simple, and sophisticated. Engines don't make noise. Factories of the future keep their innards hidden.

Of course, the necessities of exciting plot devices and special effects dulled the striking sharpness of Roddenberry's original vision, but it still shone through quite well. These sets, on the other hand ... these sets look very un-Star Trek to me.

    Is that a good thing?"

Though I can see where this comment is coming from, I wonder if this person took into account the fact that this is suppose to take place prior to the original series and so some things may just not have looked as sharp, clean and smooth as they do later on when we catch up to the original series time line.
Capt. Kirk: "Is there anyone on this ship, who even remotely, looks like Satan?"
Mr. Spock: "I am not aware of anyone who fits that description, Captain"
Capt. Kirk: "No, Mr. Spock, I didn't think you would be"

So far, everything I see reminds me of an episode of Enterprise -- and that's not good

I noticed the shuttle had seat belts. Whats the deal with that? Part of what I love about TOS is how the crewmen flew across the bridge during battle.

Think B.A. Where did you hide the Megos?

I hope that uniform is not what they will be wearing!!!
The thing I hated most about all other treks is the jumsuit look,I don't know why but it just bugs the crap out of me!!!

Whew! The gross pic is gone!

As for the pictures, I agree...it looks a lot like Enterprise, even the blue jump suits seem like leftovers from that series.
I keep hearing reports that they remained faithfull to the original series costumes, but all I ever see is the freaky jump suits. Like fallensaviour, I cant stand the jump suit look that seems to have become the Trek norm, so I obviously hate these movie jumpsuits as well....If this is set during Kirks academy days, and they are trying to keep the uniforms faithfull, the cadets should be wearing the silver tunics with the traditional black boots and pants.

The shuttle design itself does show some ties to the original series stuff, but the inside loks more like the old Galactica shuttles?

I know its not realistic to expect this film to be an exact carbon copy of the old series and its elements, but it looks to be a complete about face....a re-imagining for sure...despite all comments to the contrary.

Still, there's one thing to consider - all we've apparently seen set-wise are from the shipyard where Enterprise was built. Could these jumpsuits be uniforms from the shipyard? After all, even the show had the jumpsuits for engineering techs.

The pic of the Enterprise in the ship yard is wrong. The skin would have been finished first before finishing the insides or painting the ID!
Too many toys. Not enough space!
