What was/is your fav Sci Fi movies pre-1968 ?

I consider 2001 (1968) to be THE barrier between "old" and modern sci fi movies.

So what's your pre 1968 fav sci fi movie list ?

My top 5 (in no order)

    Robinson Crusoe on Mars
    Forbidden Planet (of course)
    Conquest of Space
    Planet of the Vampires
    Earth vs the Flying Saucers

I like This Island Earth, but I never could get over the fact Exiter reminds me of Robin Williams as Mork

Did Planet of the Apes come out before 2001? In any case, my list of 5 would include:
          - Earth vs. the Flying Saucers
          - The War of the Worlds
          - The Day the Earth Stood Still
          - Forbidden Planet
          - The Time Machine
Looking for redhead AJ heads (or figures) - both bearded & clean shaven (I'm trying to complete all the variations).
Also seeking: 1 blue Soldier Ape glove, 1 General Ape boot, sun reflector from PotA Fortress playset.

The Time Machine. Remains my all time favorite movie in the sci-fi genre.

Planet of the Apes came out in 1968. That's the same year that 2001: A Space Oddessy was released, and is what I would personally consider the "watershed" year for the modern era of science fiction . That also is the year when I perhaps truly became aware/cognizant of the science fiction genre as a "thing." ...most specifically when I saw "The Green Slime" when it was released that year.

Regardless of year I personally consider Planet of the Apes to be a modern movie.

Love the movie, but Robbie the Robot would have no place in a movie like that

                            Loved The Thing ...........

BTW, what was the movie that had a robot named John .... at the end of the movie everybody climbed on him while lava destroyed everything.

In the end he saved them all but he was destroyed
