I liked Skull too. I don't get all the hating on it
Aaah, where to start....
1. Spielberg promised to do as much as possible without CG, totally Old School. Yeah, right. All Indiana Jones movies had CG, I know, but Skull was drowning in them, a lot of it not at all convincing. Like the sword fight between Jr and Blanchett on top of the moving vehicles. Looked totally fake, and so OTT, I would have cut it out completely.
2. Introducing the most obnoxious character in the series, Mutt, and trying ever so hard to "pass the torch" on to him. What were they thinking?
3. Really ridiculous attempts at humor, like drowning in quicksand while still discussing the kid's college education. Come on...
It felt like someone who wasn't at all in touch with Raiders' winning formula had been given this movie, and was making a kind of parody on the originals.
I feel that neither Lucas nor Spielberg should come within a mile of this franchise anymore. They just don't have "it" anymore.

Those weren't even my complaints about the movie, one word...aliens.
But after hearing why lucas wanted that I did understand.
Oh and atom bomb survival scene was just way too silly even for Indy.
"Hang on Lady... We go for a RIDE!" - Shorty to Willie Scott.Best movie line from Indiana Jones & the Temple Of Doom
I get that there were issues with the movie, I really do, but I still enjoy it. to me it is a fun movie and I was happy to have a new Indy adventure with Harry Ford in it
I would have liked it better had they focused completely on Ford. I wanted to see him back in action.
It was also great to see Karen Allen back, and I wish she had been given a better script than this.
