Saw this at jedinews. It's black and white and the audio drops out a couple of times but it is still very cool. It's longer than the scene that finally ended up in the movie and contains many alternate takes and voices that were dubbed over in the finished scene. It also thoroughly debunks the Greedo always shot first nonsense.

Original black and white rough cut of the Star Wars Cantina scene.
You are a bold and courageous person, afraid of nothing. High on a hill top near your home, there stands a dilapidated old mansion. Some say the place is haunted, but you don't believe in such myths. One dark and stormy night, a light appears in the topmost window in the tower of the old house. You decide to investigate... and you never return...Tags: None -
Very Cool, you get an extended look at some of the aliens and the British accent Greedo is great. -
I first saw that on the old "Behind the Magic" CD-ROM which came out around 1997.
It's a fascinating glimpse of the original cut. That's Paul Blake's voice as Greedo.
Very cool.PUNY HUMANS!Comment

Han Solo is a more interesting character this way.
They softened him up so much, he ended up with a teddy bear wrapped around his leg....

that was cool. don't think I have ever seen that before. I agree Rik, they did soften Han up too much, would have been way cooler to see him womanizingComment

I've always felt that the flawed heroes who end up doing "the right thing" are much more interesting than the "white hat/Superman" kind of guys.
I think that Lucas never really got that, making Solo more "white hat" as he went along with his special editions.
A lot of the best westerns and war movies have people who are basically not so great (womanizers, drunks, gunslingers) but who eventually do the right thing. I think the SW universe needed somebody like that. A Clint Eastwood kind of guy..
