The 2004 DVD while a big upgrade over the Anchor Bay releases is really showing it's age. A Blu Ray release is long overdue. Considering an HD transfer already exists it makes the lack of a Blu Ray release all the more frustrating.

Walt Disney's Black Hole. Still no Blu Ray.
You are a bold and courageous person, afraid of nothing. High on a hill top near your home, there stands a dilapidated old mansion. Some say the place is haunted, but you don't believe in such myths. One dark and stormy night, a light appears in the topmost window in the tower of the old house. You decide to investigate... and you never return...Tags: None -

Okay, this is weird to see this thread, as I was JUST searching bluray forums for any updates on this.
I just got back from a Disney vacation, and I have to wonder why there are no rides for Black Hole and Tron. I realize BH was considered a failure, but Splash Mountain is one of the most popular rides, and it's based on Song of the South, which Disney has pretty much disowned.Comment

From what I can find, there are exactly two references to TBH in the Florida Disney Parks nowadays: In the gift shop of Mission Space at EPCOT, an illustration of an unreleased Vincent Vinylmation figure, and in the newly revamped Star Tours at Disney Studios, Vincent shows up in a luggage Xray screen.
I have fond memories of a trip to Magic Kingdom in early 1980 when there was tons of TBH merchandise in the stores and window displays depicting scenes from the movie on Main Street.

^That is awesome. They really don't know what they've got with it. It seems like a natural vehicle for a dark ride with all the popular Disney elements like animatronics and robots. At the very least, you ought to be able to get a TBH t shirt at EPCOT.Comment

Disney notoriously sits on some of their older material, that could definitely be making them money. The Marvel cartoon library is anemic and they own that lock-stock and barrel now. They did brief runs of Zorro and The Scarecrow of Romeny Marsh on DVD, and then they went out of print. Same with the 60s Spidey cartoons.

I'm a big 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea fan. It is still my favorite live action Disney film and last year I was reading a article about the movie. In that article it was stated that 20,000 Leagues and The Black Hole have been re-mastered for evently release on blu-ray. Disney claims they are waiting for the re-makes to be done and then release them. I thought that really sucks because nothing new has been said recently. The article was on Syfy's website blastr.com. But like I said the article was done about a year ago. Really wish Disney would just go ahead and release them and for that matter release the Zorro tv series on blu-ray as well.Comment
