SF TV DVD Questions for SMDM and Buck Rogers?!

I wanted to put these questions to you guys in one thread to save time and space.
Question one: Is it worth getting the new versions of the Buck Rogers TV show on dvd? Are they that much better than the 2004 dvd set? Maybe I should just wait for the Blu-ray to replace them?
Question two: I just bought the first two seasons of SMDM on dvd from Amazon for fifteen bucks a piece after I noticed that the price of the original Time-Life set had gone back up over two hundred dollars rather than down more. Eventually I will harvest the other three cheaply if when I can. Other than the reunion movies, which I don't really care about, and the box with soundchip, what am I missing? Is it worth it?

Everything I heard about the Buck Rogers re-release indicated it was exactly the same stuff, with the exception of the Awakening episodes which apparently is restored to the "made-for-TV" version as opposed to the theatrical version that was contained on the original boxset. It's also only one season.

Your question about Six Mill is a little more subjective. If you just want the individual seasons, then the way you're buying them is probably the way to go. But the boxset has an additional 5 DVD's with over 14 hours of additional features. The box is a nice piece to have as well since everything stays all in one place. But it's value is ultimately going to be measured by how much you desire to have the extras. I wouldn't trade my boxset for anything. Love it because EVERYTHING is right there.

I think you're right, it's really the extras that make the difference. I found a really helpful review of the set that goes disc by disc.
I'm pretty sure I can live without the bonus disc set. Here's a link...

As far as Buck goes, I was just wondering if the quality is measurably better. The original discs don't have such a great pic.

I missed out on boxed SMDM & have been collecting seasons--I do hope they do a movie collection, as WB did with The Waltons.
WANTED: Dick Grayson SI trousers; gray AJ Mustang horse; vintage RC Batman (Bruce Wayne) head; minty Wolfman tights; mint Black Knight sword; minty Launcelot boots; Lion Rock (pale) Dracula & Mummy heads; Lion Rock Franky squared boots; Wayne Foundation blue furniture; Flash Gordon/Ming (10") unbroken holsters; CHiPs gloved arms; POTA T2 tan body; CTVT/vintage Friar Tuck robes, BBP TZ Burgess Meredith glasses.

The reunion movies were actually kinda stinky

LOVED Sandra Bullock as the new bionic girl/woman but that's about their only saving grace

Yeah, I think I can live without the Reunion movies and the padded versions of the original movies.
But I would like to see some of those extras.

I did not even realize S5 was released earlier this year. the movies and maybe extras cannot be far off as they were releasing the seasons individually around every 6 months
