That's awesome and coincidentally I just rewatched the movie the other day. It still holds up. The effects are gorgeous and I dig the gothic haunted house in space vibe. It's wonderfully spooky and weird. You are a bold and courageous person, afraid of nothing. High on a hill top near your home, there stands a dilapidated old mansion. Some say the place is haunted, but you don't believe in such myths. One dark and stormy night, a light appears in the topmost window in the tower of the old house. You decide to investigate... and you never return... -

WHATWHAT!!! This is amazing. Hopefully Marvel collects these as they get more into the Disney game with comics... another kirby reprint volume makes total sense to me.Comment

Hopefully this will be collected at some point.
This is the only Kirby Star Wars related image that I know of. Is there more? http://betweenthepagesblog.typepad.c...star-wars.htmlComment

I think these were right up his alley, the kind of stuff he loved to do ,so it's a perfect match....another reason why Kirby is King.Comment

Love it! Big Jack Kirby fan... Big Black Hole fan... Win/win....
I'd love to know the story behind these. Didn't Disney have a recurring strip where they changed the franchise out from time to time for whatever the next property was they were promoting? I'm guessing these ran for a while while the movie was out or shortly after and then it changed to "Herbie Goes Bananas" or something.
Next question would be how Jack Kirby ended up being the designated artist. Would he have have been involved through DC or Marvel or how would that work ?Comment

Kirby also had to pay bills and take care of his family.....he was a machine by the time he got to this stage, he could crank it out and make it look majestic like no other.Comment
