Star trek TOS on dvd question

Now that I am finally caught up with Dr who and the superfriends on dvd I am thinking about finally upgrading my classic trek to dvd but I am probably in the minority that doesn't like the "improved" effects shots in the show as it's aired on tv now. does anyone know of a release that either doesn't have the improved effects or is there an option to turn them off and see the original as aired model and effects shots?

The Blue Ray sets give you the option to watching the original version or the updated version. You might check the packaging on the DVD version. I'd bet it does. The Trek sets are high quality and I'm guessing Paramount knew to include both.

The DVDs I have are the ones in those odd plastic boxes that snap open and shut. Those are the original versions, no special editions. Not sure if those are still available.

I'm actually on the other end of the spectrum, and considering getting the Blu Rays so I can check out the enhanced effects!

Thanks all, I was aware of the original 99 dvd release but those are not cleaned up at all as compared to my laserdisc releases

Like others said, the blu ray set has both versions
